I have a little problem with it.

I always keep my default option as Full Package. I went to GTA IV to try it out. It is onl available as disc only. When the window popped up, it auto-selected Disc Only to try and get me an instant match. I don't like that. Is there some way to keep it auto-selected on Full Package, even if there isn't a copy available that way?

That's my only problem with it too. I'd like to know as well.

 

i was not aware of this, not a fan of it either

yes it only goes to your default if theres no instant match

How come I can't use instant match when activating a game from on hold? What if I'm offering a high demand game, like Borderlands, from on hold, and it doesn't do an instant match so I'm in active state until the next matching cycle occurs.What if during that time, someone who hasn't requested it yet, happens to add the game to their wants through instant match, would they skip the entire queue and be matched with me?

Uh... That's what I do. But we're all human and make mistakes from time to time.

I still don't see why it should auto select anything less than our defualt miniimum. It should alert us that a lesser package is available, but it shouldn't select in in the window automatically.

having not added anything to my queue in a little while I just accidentally instant matched with a guy for a copy of Buzz TV for PS3

I'm with other people about it shouldn't offer an instant match contrary to what we have as our default add preference (in this case disc+manual when I specify I only want complete copies) thankfully the seller was understanding and we got it taken care of by just canceling the trade

But isn't this the point of instant match? To give you an...instant match...to a game you would otherwise have to wait for if you want a full package?

I haven't used instant match yet, but don't you have to click through a dialogue screen to get it to work? The system doesn't literally choose stuff for you, right?

The problem is the instant match picks disc only or D+M as a default when the window opens, and if you don't know any better or not paying attention, could mistake that as full package, which is an option if its available.  If a person hits ok and didn't want full package, then they are at the mercy of the seller for a cancel.  The setting should at least default to your default demand, and and let you pick manually if you want a lower setting so there won't be a problem with this.

Yes it does. If your default request is Full Package, but a disc only copy is available, it will automatically selects disc only available, and you have to change it back to full package your self.

I love the idea of instant match, but it should be slightly different. It should never select anything less than your default minimum. It should just alert you that something less is available, and then give you the chance to switch your request to be matched up right away

This is such a non issue, it's not even funny.  You should never click ok without making sure you understand what you're agreeing to.  Seriously, am I the only one who's father taught them to read a contract, or anything for that matter, before you sign it?  No matter how many times you've signed the same thing, always read it first. 

Before I knew instant match was active, and before this thread, I clicked on a game I wanted.  It asked me if I wanted to get it now with a disc + manual.  Because I didn't get all giddy like a school girl when it said it was available now, and I read what was there, I switched it to full package and got in line.

All problems are solved by reading before you agree to something.

The fact that we know that it will automatically select the highest grade option that is available right now would seem to mean that everyone is well informed so there's no excuse to not double check that you're signing up for the condition you want.

Considering that we have people that can't even do the simplest things trading wise as far as understanding how to send and receive games, then yes, this could be an issue, and as others have already stated in this thread, it is.  But if you say so, then it's not I guess.  Just expect a lot of threads from people complaining about negatives cause of it.

I wanted to share a brief update on the Instant Match feature.

Many of you criticized the "auto-select" feature for the best available shipping condition when your own default is not available. Other claimed it to be useful as a quick reminder of what's available now.

Well... following your feedback, we have made this feature optional: now you can disable the "auto-select" of a lower shipping condition in your preferences:

Automatically select best available option in instant match (override my default)

By disabling this feature, the I.M. system will no longer pre-select a shipping condition other than your default, when your default is not available. If you activate this feature, the I.M. system will instead pre-select the best shipping condition available at the moment, regardless of your default.
