Honestly, by the time I finished Fallout 3 (and Oblivion for that matter) I didn't really have much interest in playing the DLC. After spending all of those hours beating nearly every quest and having maxed out my character, I was ready to move on to a different game.

If your heavily impatient and just want to play one of the most bad ass games of all time, get it now! But if your trying to save wait for game of the year version. I guess i was lucky with the whole ordeal, I bought mine at  circut city  with the lunch box and the bobblehead for only 30 bucks!! hehe

If you have nothing to play at the moment, I would pick it up.  After you get it though, immediately relist it in your offers on hold status so that you can sell it if you do decide to pick up the GOTY edition.

I honestly didn't understand the hype surrounding the game until I actually played it.  I personally thought it looked bland and boring.

After actually playing it, I got hooked.  Very atmospheric and the VATS system is more awesome than it looks.

Oh but Morrowind>Fallout 3>Oblivion.

Morrowind (The Tribunal Expansion!)  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FO3>>>>>>>>>>>>Oblivion

All RPGs have flaws, to harp on any of the flaws in these games is to miss the point of open world FP RPGs.

Morrowind had the ultimate freedom, unfortunately the quest system was a mess of unhelpful menus which could lead to lots of wandering boredome and frustrating hide and seek games.

All of that was fixed in the Tribunal expansion which provided more stable graphics, quests with WORTHWHILE rewards for your character, and a storyline that was interesting to follow

Fallout 3 as cool because it was not like "oblivion with guns" thanks to the VATS system.  Which was a weird part of the game. If you used VATs it was RPG, if you ignored VATS it was more like action FPS RPG but the shooting controls stink.

Not surprisingly, like Morrowind, the best part of FO3 is the EXPANSION.  Broken Steel.  More perks and level cap increase.  Sadly the best items in the game are from the Operation Anch expansion... but that expansion itself is really just 1 mission.  And there is no level cap increase so you have to DL BS if you really want to get the most out of OA.

Oblivion was just all over the place.  The story went no where, the Oblivion gates ruined half the game and the leveled items ruined questing.  I still enjoyed the game for the most part, but it really made me miss Tribunal and Morrowind.  Enchanting was also pretty useless.

The most frustating parts of Oblvion and FO3 IMO are the silly weight restrictions on gear.  The games provide THOUSANDS of pieces of gear but you constantly have to micromanage how much you carry around.

Why can't I carry 3 types of power armor + a few Merc Charmer outfits?  It's obnoxious to have to store items in my "house" for a game that encourages "Paper doll dress up"

The DLC is mostly garbage and there's so much content in the vanilla game you'll probably never finish it. If you haven't gotten matched yet, there was a sale a few days ago on steam for $25, not sure if it's still in effect.

Good to see someone shares my thoughts about those games.

The best Armor, weapons, perks, new enemies, tougher enemies and 10 more levels are garbage?

For $10 a pop, yes they are garbage. The anchorage reclamation sim is one of the worst quests in the game, and all of the equipment was reskins of other stuff that could easily have been added by mods. The Pitt was decent, even if it was buggy as heck and the only really new weapons you could take from it was the auto axe. Broken Steel was good but it's the sort of thing that should be released for free, if not with the original product, if Bethesda weren't trying to squeeze every nickel and dime out of their customer base. I have not played Point Lookout and whatever the other one is called because I am tired of playing the game after 70something hours.

I haven't played them since I own a PS3, but I'm not all that excited to either.  Especially after the crappy Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion which was way overpriced itself.  A couple new weapons, pieces of armor, and a few new enemies just doesn't last very long and isn't worth what they are typically charging for this stuff.    Plus, the game was getting boring at the end anyways, no need to draw it out anymore.

Can you give examples of better DLC for a better price?  I'm not sure you guys have realistic expectations.

Pitt

Opp Anc

Broken Steel

Point Lookout

Each DLC pack offers 10-20 new characters 10-20 new items (weapons/armor) and 5-6 new quests

Shivering Isles was 25 hours+ long and that alone is 2-3x as long as most full games.  It's not my favorite Bethesda expansion by any stretch, but it did indeed offer a lot of new content in terms of quests, land mass, NPCs, items

What do you prefer for DLC ?  EAgames style $1.99 for unlocked cheats?  Point me in the direction of better value DLC and I will gladly examine it.
