What is the big deal about receiving or should I say not wanting a greatest hits edition?

I have mailed out a few of these versions and the receiver has complained that it was a greatest hits.

Is there some kind of difference I am not aware of?  What is the big deal?

There is no option I can find on Goozex to state which version you have.

In response to dtp11 - I don't argue against your right to argue.  Versions of games that do have a signifigant content difference are seperated in Goozex postings, and have their own system for choosing here on Goozex - So pointing out different content in some games only evades the conversation here.  I continue to believe it's insane and silly and rude to downgrade feedback to a +5 for reasons of packaging when these are officially republished games - abiding by whatever decisions the publishers made when publishing them.

Users who prefer a certain packaging, generally, in my experience, are split just about 50/50 whether or not they're going to be humanly reasonable in the circumstance of receiving a game that has republished packaging.  Your argument is that it was my responsibility to avoid that by giving them the chance to back out of the deal on the basis that this game may clash with their other games..  But how is that fair to a seller who's sat in line to turn a game, only to receive someone discourteous enough to think about downing the feedback score for no better reason?

My feedback suggestion may have been defeated by your irrefutably clever wordplay, but it's still my opinion that auction sites placing 100% of the obligation for 'courtesy' on just one end of the trade are completely flawed.  Here in Goozex, I think we're a community that should all be responsible for being courteous.  That being said, buyers who don't PM users before sending a greatest hits version are inarguably doing nothing wrong.  If someone then gets the game and doesn't understand that they've gotten what they've bargained for, it's in their court to realize this is how goozex works.  They should leave proper feedback.

When I first started using Goozex, it blew me away that there were one or two users that complained when they got a grestest hits version of a game.  In the cases I've experienced, there were no differences but packaging involved between the two different versions.  People buy these games all the time - I think if you expect and demand to never have one in your collection, and you trade on Goozex, you're being a bit childish.

Also, my dad could totally beat up your dad.

99% of the time only the packaging is different. But people like their game boxes. Wink

If you get matched for one it's best to PM the buyer before agreeing to send, just to make sure they don't mind getting a Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits version.

I would not pm anyone over a greatest hits game I have offered.  Goozex is not a place for collectors that are looking for non greatest hits games.  If they dont want greatest hits they shouldnt request a game that has a greatest hits.

I'm with Killmak on this one.  Unless there's specifically a seperate listing for the greatest hits version, it doesn't matter.

I agree with Killmak and Maskim. If someone wants to give me a +5 over a GH, so be it. A positive is a positive to me. The system usually lists the versions differently if there is a difference in content as that means there is a different UPC. (Mass Effect is one example, as is one of the PS2 Silent Hill games)

As long as there is no difference in the content and there is no seperate listing, there should be no difference in sending Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits versions.

I agree with Killmak, if the buyer is picky about GH/PH then the onus is on them to ask.  Also, if someone wants to cancel because it's GH/PH, make sure they initiate the cancellation so you don't lose your spot in line.

In a funny sort of haha way, one game where you WANT the GH version 100% of the times is Silent Hill 2 for the PS2. The GH version actually includes all the extras the Xbox version got, while the regular version is all gimped out!

+1 for not PMing about greatest hits. This is a player's site, not a collector's.

To the people who don't think it's worth PMing a buyer about GH packaging, please read this.

I don't quite get your point, that link is a perfect example of someone who shouldn't be using Goozex to get that game.  The seller has listed the game correctly and that is that.  If the buyer has a special request, then the onus is on him/her to request it from the seller.  The seller is under no obligation to accept because the game is/was listed correctly.

Personally, I never cared much until recently. But if it is something that is that important, just go buy the thing instead.

I've said before, the original Platinum Hits packaging for 360 games is hideous. The newly designed one looks fine though.

I've been disappointed by GH versions before, but I've never faulted the seller for it. They sent the game, as advertised. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I knew I was taking that chance when I requested the game. In all honesty I've recieved more brand new still in the celophane games than GH.

Thanks for all the answers.  Getting VERY tired of being faulted for it.

For me (or I should say us, since these are also for my other half) we don't care.  We get tired of a game we post it.

We are not collectors.

I expect games to be in used condition, this even means the case.  So if they come from Gamestop, etc. I don't care about stickers-labels.  As long as that game plays and the game itself is not badly scratched.

People are nuts wanting a brand new looking case on a PS1 game.  I refuse to go out and buy new jewel cases, that could possibly be broken in the mail before they reach their destination anyway.  Since the mail is rough on things.  I have mailed these in bubble wrap and they still get cracked at times.

If they want something in mint condition, they need to find it somewhere else.

Sorry just getting this off my chest, since I was again recently faulted for a greatest hits game.

I've never posted here before but I have been a member for over a year and I can quite honestly say, you guys are pretty rude and need to develop social skills. You're welcome to your opinions, but just because you don't give a rat's *** about whether a game looks like it was found in a dump after being run over by a car doesn't mean that everyone feels the same way.

I personally can't stand Platinum Hits labeling because it doesn't match anything. I have dozens of Xbox 360 games in my library and they all have green cases, save for collector's editions. I refuse to have a silver packaging on there with box art reduced to like 50x50 and a giant 44 point font saying "PLATINUM HITS" and completely wasted space on the left side.

I know you guys seem pretty firm on this being a site for gamer's and not collector's, but just because I want a green case does not mean I'm a collector. I buy used games, and the packaging isn't always pretty, even if it's a common game. But I don't want a damn Platinum Hits casing.

lol.

Didn't really think people got so bent out of shape over a game's case.  Really detracts from the game, ya know?

If you're worried about continuity, put all the green ones in a row, then, follow them with any PH/GH games you have.  OCD issue solved!

Seems I'm not the only one who can be proud of his game collection without worrying what color it is...lol.
