Saw that Zen Pinball was coming out this week on PSN, so I started looking around to see what kind of pinball offerings were out there.     Came across this collection for the Wii, and as a Funhouse pinball enthusiast I just had to get it.

I have to say, anyone looking for a pinball offering should definitely take a look at this one.     I never really played any of the other tables heavily, so I can only comment on Funhouse in this regard, but the translation of this thing far exceeded my expectations.        Every sound, every light, exactly as it was on the original.      Even the physics are surprisingly realistic and the ball plays almost identically to how it would on a real table.         The collection offers:

Jive Time
Gorgar
Firepower
Black Knight
Space Shuttle
Sorcerer
Pinbot
Taxi
Whirlwhind
Funhouse

You start out with freeplay ability on 4 of the tables, the rest will cost you credits.    Once you bank 100 credits you can unlock freeplay mode on any of the other 6.

The other nice thing is that it gives you a tuturial for each of the tables which tells you every way there is to score points.     Not using this myself, learning to play the tables is a good part of the fun, but it's kind of cool.    I did check out the Funhouse one, and I can proudly say there isn't anything I wasn't aware of.     :)

Definitely worth the $20 or so that this title runs if you like pinball, and especially if you happened to like any of these tables in the past.

Agreed.  A real gem of a game on a system with very few quality 3rd party games.

If I recall correctly (I do a 'weekly release' article for GWC), this was one of those 'on the coming out this week four or five times' things ... that can really kill a game.

Yeah, the Willams Collection is fun on the Wii and the PSP too.  I've actually played on some of those machines too which helps with the enjoyment factor.

I played the Zen Pinball demo on PS3 and was not impressed--the physics seemed really off, and with a pinball game, physics is all you've got.

Have the PS2 version and love it, although not enough tables ...
