I was thinking about posting something like this for a few days now, and from the lack of related posts on the side in the contextual search, it looks like this may be one of the first ones on this topic.
Basically, I am curious as to what teams people have taken over coaching duties for in their former and current dynasties and such. I know that nowadays, there is increasing emphasis on multiplayer online sports experiences, but the single player long term commitment to a team is also an interesting endeavor and one I am interested in hearing about.
So here is my list, and I'd love to see what teams other people took the helm of, especially in games/series I played. NCAA Football 2000 - Florida A&M, Iowa State Cyclones, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, University of Lafayette Ragin' CajunsNCAA Football 2005 - Temple OwlsMadden 2005 - Detroit LionsNBA 2K7 - Philadelphia 76'sCollege Hoops 2K5 - Western Illinois LeathernecksCollege Hoops 2K7 - Kennesaw St. OwlsMVP Baseball 2005 - Detroit TigersFIFA 2000 - Rosenborg, Chelsea, Werder Bremen, Dundee UnitedFIFA 2005 - Boston United, AjaxFIFA 2008: GKS Bełchatów, ManisasporNHL 2K7/NHL 99: Ottawa Senators
And for the life of me, I can't remember who my team was in Rugby 06. Sorry.
NBA Live 2003 - Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat
Winning Eleven 7 - Constantine (renamed Los Alacranes)
WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006 - Raw, Smackdown
...
Oh wait, I don't think that last one counts.

They play in a weak conference. It's an easy way to build up your coaching stats while maintaining a respectable record Usually by the third season I can convince some some highly skilled recruits to play for the Hawks and make a run at the National Championship. I was able to win it with them in 2k6 and just picked up 2k8 and thought I'd give it another shot. They seem much wose in the 2k8 version, which I didn't think was possible.
cheez, glad to know that there was some logic in the decision. I never thought of it that way. Sounds interesting...and I'll think that I'll give it a try sometime.
NCAA - every year, the Florida State University Seminoles
Madden- Hail to the Redskins
Fifa 08 - Aston Villa
Fifa 09 - Liverpool
And you have to remember that in the College Hoops games, if you are doing a coaching career, the game makes you start out at a relatively bad school in a small conference if you are playing as yourself, so that's how you end up with people coaching at Western Illinois, UMES, Kennesaw St (I am waiting for an offer from a school in a better conference... all my job offers are for schools at my current level, despite the fact that I made it to the Elite Eight against Arizona last season) and the like, and FIFA did that kind of stuff in 2005 as well, that's how I ended up coaching the Boston Pilgrims.
But in NCAA Football, I've always relished a challenge, so that's why I coached questionable teams.... and I sort of miss having commissioner power in 2000... because I set the schedules of almost every team so they had to face decent competition from teams that were their peers... I didn't let any team have a free ride... if I had to play the best, then the other teams in the division had to do so too.... so when I played someone for the national championship, I knew they were likely the best of the bunch. I was sort of proud that at the end of my first term at Wake Forest, I ended up playing Iowa State for the National Championship, as they were still a quality team after I left.
