Anybody signed up for this?  Is this something you'd pay a monthly sub for?  I'm personally on the fence.

I think it's a good concept, but what they're offering so far is kind of weak. What everyone's been asking for is an iTunes-style system, where you can pay for and download the comics you want to read instead of picking them up from the store. Even a subscription-based program of this nature could be good, but all they're going to have available on the current service is old titles. This might appeal to some people, but right now I don't really have time to read entire runs of series. The other problem is the viewer - you don't actually download the comics, you have to look at them in the browser they provide. Reading digital comics is already much less convenient than the hard copies, so if the interface has problems it's not even going to be worth using.

This is actually the first month in years that I haven't had any Marvel titles on my pull list. If they were offering current issues online I might actually start reading some of them again, but so far I'm not impressed.

I like the concept.I own several of the "full set" comic dvd roms, and I think they were done fairly well.Kinda expensive(around 40 to 60 dollars),but the fact that you get the entire series up to a certain year, which is usually anywhere from 200 to 600 comics.I like the fact that you can print each issue from the disc, but ultimatley nothing compares to holding the actual comic in your hand, fresh from the comic store. As far as Marvel's system goes,I feel its fairly half assed.Maybe in a year or two, when they have had time to experiment and fix all the kinks, maybe then it might be worth it.Overall,I agree with madfigs, stick to the store bought copies for now.

I have to disagree. I got the spiderman collection and the viewer for the comics was just god-awful. It made them practically unreadable.

I have the same issue with the online comics. You can test-drive them on the marvel site but the navigation/zoom features are just horrid. If they used a format like djvu then I'd consider getting them. Until then, I'll just sit down at barnes and noble and read the tpb's in the chairs there.

I have brought to light a monstrous abnormality, but I did it for the sake of knowledge. Now for the sake of all life and Nature you must help me thrust it back into the dark again.

The ones I bought all come with Adobe Acrobat Reader to display them.Certainly not perfect but I feel it works pretty well.
