I take it you didnt fully read the option B.  It clearly states the extra points would be paid by the buyer.

I was thinking I should get free trade credits for having 17" biceps of steel!

We have been tossing around a few ideas on this same topic: an incentive to trade in a new release during the first 4 or 6 weeks. Granted, many people may still want to play the game longer... but would some prefer to trade it in faster if there was an incentive?

A few ideas:

A: + 2 bonus trade credits during first 3 weeks, +1 bonus trade credit during next 3 weeks. The trade credit would be given by Goozex

B: + 100 points during first 3 weeks, +50 points during next 3 weeks: the points would be paid by the buyer, basically rising the point value of the game during the first 6 weeks to 1100 or 1050.

I think option B would be the way to go.  That way you'd hit the problem from both ends.  It would incentivize early trading for people who buy the game new, and it would lower demand somewhat.  Some people won't pay the extra points when they know in a few weeks the price will be dropping.

I like option B as well.  Sounds like a great idea to me!  I would not mind paying a few more points like this!

i know it would keep me off the lists for 6 weeks; not a fan of losing points i have no way of getting back in the trade

Here's the problem though.  When you have a ton of points, why trade a new release?  You don't need more points.  I find myself trading attempting to trade new releases elsewhere until it looks like the point value might drop on Goozex.

Key word there is "attempting."  I hear where you're coming from loud and clear. But it's tough to get real value from direct trading communities because everyone wants to lowball.

Yeah, Its easier said than done, but I can still attempt it for 3 months before I have to cash my points in on Goozex.

Shouldn't this wonderful community be enough incentive?

Trading a new release oonly makes sense if you have played the game to the amount you want to trade it, then it makes a lot of sense to trade the new release game because you want to get rid of it while ti is at 1000 pts rather than when it drops to 800 or lower. This is enough incentive and the goozex system is just fine the way it is.

I think there are quite a few people who would be willing to pay slightly more to get a game sooner rather than later.  I mean, the Goozex Exchange seems like it's got quite a bit of buzz and that's more or less in the same category as what's being suggested.  So on the demand side, I think there are plenty of people who would be interested in this.

The real question is would this truly be an incentive for someone to trade the game.  Overall I'd say the Goozex demographic is pretty frugal.  I think it's going to be pretty tough to convince someone to go out and spend $60 on a new game without fairly large incentives.  It might be worth giving it a test run and look at what actually happens rather than going off conjecture.

I don't see how this is a good option or even something to even be considered by Goozex.  Most of the people who kick around these ideas are people new to the site and are definitely in the minority.  Most traders are happy with how simple Goozex is to use, but because we don't create threads on how much we love it, the minority get heard more often.

I don't agree with either option that Zanna stated was kicked around by Goozex. Leave the site as it is, simple and easy to use.  Many people have traded games within the first 4 weeks of release, and don't complain about wanting more for that game.

What I don't get is why this is even a topic of discussion. Looking at points from a monetary value, people get about $50 worth of points for trading new games. Thats about $15 or more than you would get at Gamestop.  And it reduces the hassle of direct trading on other sites.  Goozex has a simple matrix in place, and any of these options would change what made the site what it is.

I agree with G-Nitro.

Why try to fix something thats not even broken? Its a used game trading site... its supposed to be hard to get brand new games.

That is pretty much exactly how I feel on top of what I already said.

These suggestions just seems to stem from the frustration of new users (like myself) who get all excited about the system w/o really understanding it and have their heartsbroken when they get in line to recieve Resident Evil 5 and find out that there is no chance they will ever recieve the game before the PS4 comes out. Anyways, I like the system but I fail to recognize whats wrong with offering a free trade credit if the person trades the game soon after it releases. It jsut seems like a lot of the veteran members have grown comfortable in the system the wa it is and not really willing to listen to new ideas.

Anyways thats just my observation and I meant no offense to anybody.

Don't over-exaggerate.

This is why these threads start - because people get all freaked out about waiting a really long time, when in reality the games (especially popular ones) move really fast after 2 months of being out. I think no matter how far back in line you are, as long as you get in line right now I can see you getting any new, popular release game within 6 months, easily.

i was asked by a new user who joined back in January how long it would take for him to get fallout 3 as he was far back in line and worried; i tell him 1 -2 months most likely; sure enough just under 2 months after his join date, he receives it in the mail
