I watched it religiously in the late 90's, though at first I only watched WCW. I got into WWF due to my friend would as me to record the PPV events for WWF as well (I had access to the PPV channels so I didn't mind).

I got to say my favorite ended up being Kevin Nash. Whenever we would play something like WWF No Mercy me and my friend would form the outsiders as his favorite was Scott Hall. Ah fun times.

For some reason, I can never take him seriously. Then again, I've never actually seen him in a match or do a promo, so it's pretty much based off of pictures I've seen of him.

You must be fairly young since it wasn't all that long ago that he was wrestling (that or I'm in denial Embarrassed ) He was a big intense guy that had what I always thought was pretty funny entrance music (download it) and his finisher was similar to Yokozuna's Banzai Drop however instead of him jumping and sitting on people, he'd jump and stretch his body out and do a body splash from the second rope AKA, The Vader Bomb.

He also got in a lot of trouble when a reporter asked him about wrestling being fake, he started slapping the snot outta the guy asking him how fake it felt.

WWF completely underutilized him.

Vader in WCW & Japan (around 1989-1994)

There's something about a 450 pounder that powerbombs guys and breaks their necks, pushes his EYE BACK IN DURING a match and finishes it, throws mick foley over the ropes (RIPPING OFF HIS EAR), and does moonsaults from the top rope.

All while being extremely intimidating.

You can youtube some of his japanese matches. (including the one with the eye)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0FNGOoMkRg

The one around 2:20 where he deadlifts the guy into a powerbomb shows you how awesome he really was.

Perhaps the stiffest, most brutal wrestler ever.

I never really watched wrestling.  I always thought The Ultimate Warrior was cool, I'd choose him in the WWF arcade games.

This thread is bringing back memories of 5th grade when Steve Austin was big and every guy was giving each other stone cold stunners (which after typing it sounds very sexual).

That's funny. I was one of those guys, but I was older (15 or 16). I actually started a backyard wrestling group with a bunch of my buddies from school. Nothing professional, just for fun. Every WWF PPV we'd get together around noon and hold matches, interviews and have a great time. We'd rent a camcorder and tape our "shows". It was a lot of fun.

I named the "company" PWF which stood for People's Wrestling Federation (not hard to figure out how that name came about) We would go shopping at Wal-Mart and get all kinds of fun wrestling stuff: flimsy garbage cans, steel chairs, cookie sheets, blood capsules and a boat oar (seemed like a good idea at the time). I lived in a trailor park and there was a field there we aptly named the PWF field. There were all kinds of old tires there so we'd stack em three high and those were our "turnbuckles". There were no ropes, so if you were thrown into them, you'd bounce off imaginary ones and come back. Nobody did anything crazy like you heard about on TV all the time when WWF was real popular, we just had a good time.

It was always funny going back and watching the tapes and seeing how gingerly we'd hit each other with the steel chairs and there were usually 2-3 moments/ event that something really painful happened and we'd watch it over and over. I wish I still had those tapes, those were good times.

The Rock has to be the best.  I had stopped watching wrestling for a while, but got back into it around the time Smackdown started.  My friends and I would watch just to see what the Rock would come out and say.  For some reason it seemed like he always got eff'd over when he wrestled.

From back in the days I always liked the ultimate warrior.  Did you know there were 3 Ultimate Warriors?  One died, and another actually changed his real name to Ultimate Warrior.

The Best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Bret the hitman Heart. Real funny thing is my second fav would be Shawn Michaels and to anyone who watches knows there is no love lost between them two.

I'm not that young (well, not younger than I should be using this), though I'll admit I probably stopped watching it during the time he was wrestling (94-ish to 99).

Wait, was he the guy that slapped John Stossel (from 20/20)?

By the way, that was an awesome story about how you made your own backyard wrestling federation.
