Feely:

I had no idea there were this many fans of professional "wrestling".  I can understand loving it when your a kid because of the stories and the grandness of it, but once you realize its really just grown men play fighting???   Doesn't it lose it's awe after that??  No real winners......No real stories......just oiled up men in there underwear, dancing around each other in a choreographed ballet, surrounded by bungie chords on a bouncing stage.   Just seems........well I don't want to offend anyone here......just silly I guess.   I might receive hate mail for this, I just don't get it.

Dear Mr Feely,...

I don't watch wrestling anymore, but I do check with WWE.com from time to time and talk with a friend of mine in NY who still watches it. When I hear things like Jeff Hardy, WWE champion, it consoles me to know I am no longer watching it.

I'm currently reading A Lions Tale, Chris Jericho's book and it's really a great read. I don't do a lot of reading, but the stories of professional wrestlers are always entertaining and informative about how things really work.

They sure are. I think that pro wrestler's autobiographies (usually biographies since they use ghost writers) are probably the only books I read on my free will.

Eh, I'm not big on reading. It takes me way too long, and not because I'm Stick out tongue.

Favorite wrestler of all time... man... there are a LOT of wrestlers I like.  Bryan Danielson comes to mind immediately.  An absolutely awesome technical wrestler that can do everything.  He's capable of brawling and flying in addition to his superior technical wrestling skill, and he has a weird charisma about him that makes people either love him or hate him.  He's not a very good promo guy (he can't do good interviews for you non-wrestling folk), but he can get it done in the ring.  He's probably my favorite wrestler right now, and has been for some time.  If you don't know who Bryan Danielson is, look him up on Youtube or something, and more importantly, support the independent organizations he works for such as Ring of Honor.

Altogether, though, my favorite wrestler of all time is Ric Flair.  He's the guy who got me into watching wrestling on a regular basis.  I grew up at the end of the Saturday Night 6:05PM on TBS era, around 86-87, and his interviews were great.  His matches were awesome, and while I don't really like the whole "WWE has a monopoly on wrestling", I do like the way that they have put out a lot of older footage, like the Starrcade set and Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80's and of course, the Ultimate Ric Flair Collection/Definitive Ric Flair Collection.  The character Ric Flair has meant so much to me as a fan, it was a really great thing to see him have the perfect weekend last year's Wrestlemania weekend, especially after the way he'd been depreciated at WCW and de-emphasized (difference between depreciated and de-emphasized) by WWE.

I was a pretty big fan of Ultimate Warrior way back when.  I remember being extremely excited to watch the belt match with Hogan.  I think we watched it a dozen times that day.

Did you record it and watch it over and over, because I'm pretty sure you needed the expressed written consent of the WWF.

Oh please. Who hadn't done that.

Hey remember when WCW went completely F'ing nuts and decided that there needed to be all kinds of break offs of the nWo? nWo black and white, The Wolfpack, LWO, and then The Ultimate Warrior came in and claimed he was the oWn (One Warrior Nation). Seriously sad days for that company.

I'll admit I haven't watched wrestling for a few years now but my favorite wrestlers of all time are The Undertaker and Mick Foley. Especially after reading his autobiography. Hulk Hogan wasn't too bad when I was much younger, but overall Mick Foley would be my favorite. He was just so dedicated to the sport. You have to admire him for that.
