I think that is a valid complaint, but I think that is one of those things that directors cut will help fix for the most part. I cannot wait for that. I've been looking forward to that more than the theatrical release.

And that was referring to Decrypded's review posted.

How were the dogs deaths anymore gruesome than they were in the book?

Seeing it in action just seemed more gruesome.

Also... in the book there was no hacking of the head. That was a big addition that made Rorschach seem even more crazy... which I didn't really like, it was kind of excessive.

Well said kevlar, agree with pretty much everything you said (except I didn't mind the Dr. Manhattan angle, after telling my girlfriend the real ending she thought it was stupid, as would most mainstream audiences).

*Edit: Oh and I thought the smiley face on mars was pretty stupid. It sounds like complaining but really, these are all very small things in a vast, 2 1/2 hour stretch of awesomeness.

The hacking of the head was specifically what I was talking about. I just couldn't figure out how to identify it without describing the entire scene.

The smiley face on mars was in the book too. It wasn't any less stupid then either. Who cares though. It's all a f***ing joke anyway. Smile

It was alright. I did enjoy it, and I would recommend it to people. But it was hardly the seccond coming some people made it out to be. It had severe pacing problems that went very far to dampen the experience, that and some things  could have been explained a lot better than they were. Overall I'd give it a 7/10 or a 7.5 out of 10.

The cleaver vs. the original is probably partly due to the audience. Think about it, can you name any big name movies that has a "you can't saw through the chain" part? Think hard Zip it!

Even though the book came 20 years before that I can just imagine the idiots screaming copy.

That review you posted was great, Decrypded, where did you find it?

And I loved the fact that the movie included the Galle Crater, but really, like most things about the movie, I loved it because it reminded me of how much I loved living that moment in the book.

Cinematical

And I know this thread kind of ended a few days ago, but I thought this was funny, from Patton Oswalt:

"Zack Snyder STEPPED UP, motherf***ers. THE WATCHMEN was going to get made, one way or another. And instead of bleating on his Facebook status updates or Tweeting about how s***ty the upcoming adaptation’s going to be, he TOOK THE BULLET and tried to do it right. Yes, THE WATCHMEN should be a limited series on HBO and blah blah blah IT WAS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN THAT WAY. Zack delivered a 2 1/2 hour, honest attempt, and broke his ass cranking out tons of free extras. Hell, he even animated The Tales of The Black Freighter for you chumps. Plus, he gave you a kick-ass DAWN OF THE DEAD remake, plus 300, plus whatever else he’s got coming down the pike. He’s the best friend the Nerd Mafia’s had since Joss Whedon and Brian Michael Bendis, so everyone please crack the tab on a frosty can of Go F**k Yourself and go see the movie version of THE WATCHMEN…"

I went and saw this again yesterday,  and yup, I still love it,  but I can definatly see how anyone who hadn't read the book would/could have mixed to negative opinion about it.  It really does follow the book, almost to a fault for some I think.  Still amazing.

I really hated Zach Snyde's   300, but loved that graphic novel.  300 was just stiff and boring, looked more like a bad XTC trip for club kids.

Loved Watchmen graphic novel, waiting for the movie on BRD.  Glad they have the sex scene in there and it's faithful, but I HATE the casting.

Friggin Denny from Grey's Anatomy is The Comedian?  Zach Snyder calling Denny a real "man's man" is just so far off the mark.  I guess living in L.A. for too long, anyone who isn't Metro comes off as some super macho man.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but I do know of this Denny character you speak of, in my wife's favorite TV show GA.  He also plays (played) in Supernatural and was pretty good in that.  Definitely more badass that a dying dude in a bed, fighting monsters and such.

Blue penis eh?  Crap, now my wife's going to want to see it...lol.

The Comedian was the best part of the movie aside from Rorschach.

Denny > Blue penis and middle aged sex scenes???? He must rock in this ;)  I'm thinking Ben Browder from Farscape would have been better, or for a true "comedian" factor they could have cast Carrot Top as Rorschach
