chimerablue:

oh god if this happened people would star wanting the stupid little inserts that tell you which scene is which oh god manuals are bad enough

really how hard is it to keep your manuals and dvd inserts?

Well, not all movies come with those little inserts, so it might be hard to keep track of what is supposed to have what.

This sounds like a good idea, but I warn of letting the site get too bloated.

I'm thinking if it does get implemented, it will either be full package; disc + case; and disc only, or full package and disc only. I doubt it'd be too hard since the DVDs and blu-rays would be a different site, whether or not points and/or credits are interchangeable.

Someone may have mentioned this before, but (on second thought) I think it might be wiser to only offer Blue Ray trading and not DVD's because (as well as the fact that DVD's are so cheap it would hardly be worth it) DVD's and DVD players just seem to vary so vastly in quality.  I used to use my PS2 to play DVD's, and if the DVD had any kind of scratch or imprint it would start to skip - but now I watch DVD's on my PS3, and I could rub down a DVD with sand paper and it would still play on the PS3 - the machine is a beast, it plays DVD's that are scratched to hell.

Now, if I traded off a DVD that played just fine for me, and was a little scratched, and it went to someone who couldn't play it because they have an old, failing DVD player, and they gave me negative feedback for an unplayable DVD... well I'd be pissed, that negative would effect my video game trading too.  Blue Rays are just far more solid - the discs are so scratch resistant.

Just a thought.

I have been gone for ages, but then this topic comes up once again.  I stated way back when that I'd love HD-DVD, Blu, and UMD trading....as I still feel as it they are still each niche enough that there would be interest here amongst us gamers as well as not creating any strange economic, in the Goozex universe, conditions with the inclusion of their trading.  The DVD market is too large, and more importantly there is too much variability in DVD releases (i.e. a Director's Cut is not the same as a 20th Anniversary edition or the same as a Unrated Cut).  Yes, there is some double-dipping in the High Def markets (i.e. Casino Royale), but the amount of HD-DVD, Blus, and UMDs is a manageable database.  Again, would love to see Blu trading...but I don't see it happening. Perfecting v.g trading is an art that these Gooz-heads have diligently been working on and have been succeeding with.

Oh goodness!  If we're going to do DVD trading, can we please, please, figure out how to clean up the data coming from Muze before it gets on to the site?
