Anybody tried this out?
I'm a big fan of the original PQ.
I have my copy of the PC version but haven't even installed yet because I'm consumed with Drakensang ... and the DS version hasn't hit stores near me yet.

I have. Actually, I finished it. I also really liked the first one. However, this one's just not doing it for me. Just doesn't feel right. It's glitchy, slow-paced, lacks character, has loading times every time you sneeze (for the DS version anyway), and honestly, I just don't enjoy playing it. Some things are objectively interesting (mining, creating new ships, etc), but the path to get to the good bits is strewn with tedious chores (opening leapgates, mining for specific material), and as equipment is the be-all and end-all of a battle, since some are completely overpowered (any "net" item), battles don't even feel that strategic anymore. You just keep using that item that makes the opponent skip a bunch of turns until you can finally finish him. It feels bland.
I apologize for the vent (actually, I left a member rating that summarizes how I feel), but I just wish they had done the game better. I'm really disappointed.
Agreed - the PC version is much better, and my review (when published) will have a 7/10 for the PC version! This is just a shame.
I have the XBLA version and I love it. It has its faults (repetition being the main one) and the 360 d-pad can make certain moves a chore in leapgate hacks, but I am addicted to it. I found a decent setup and my Trident Warship is regularly taking down battleships.

I agree with you ccm. I got the game for DS through Goozex and while I enjoyed it, it was not as good as I had hoped.
