As many know, I'm editor at a couple of different sites, and since GamerDad transitioned away from being a review driven site, our roles there have changed. One thing I started last year was a series of blogs about American Idol called 'Idol Thoughts'. I didn't think I'd do it again, but since the whole family wanted to watch, I came along for the ride, and started writing about it again.
This is the second entry, called Idol Thoughts" Top 36 Part 1. There is a link to the first article of the season at the end of that article.

Just the mention of american idol has me hissing and running from sunlight.

I only watch the first couple of episodes, those are quality entertainment.

Agreed, I never really could get into it. I'm assuming it's probably a good family show txa?

This season's early episodes were pretty boring.
Anyways, I'm hoping either Normund Gentle, Adam Lambert or the blind guy wins.

I think most here know by now that my music tastes tend to be a bit on the avant-garde side ... so it sure as heck isn't the music drawing me in.
Actually I find the crazies this year better than the pure vanilla 'anti-Sanjaya' folks from last year ...but still largely forgettable. It is fun sitting on the couch with the kids and dogs and wife with the fire going watching on the big screen and having a laugh.

Do you like Zappa at all?

Sure, even saw him in concert a few times. His classical works are interesting, certainly not a pinnacle of 20th century stuff but pretty good ... and his rock stuff is hilarious ... well, until he just became angry and bitter ...
My tastes range more from the jazz genres.

We have never discouraged members from posting links if they are in the news or published or whatever. It is only stuff that could be considered game-related advertising that is frowned upon. And as said, even if you want to pimp your site, do it in your sig.
I started this thread with a generic title as I will just dump new articles here for those who are interested ... or at least have a morbid curiosity / hatred ...

So here is my confusion -- I sensed that you are not a fan of the show, yet you seemed to be really into it. A good read none-the-less.
My thoughts on Idol: I'm not a hater, though if you focus only on the karoke then yes, I am. I kind of like that a show is super successful with no violence and sex to sell it. It actually translates into why people like World of Goo versus Manhunt II. It's about content and how you present it.
I'm not a Puritan by any means and I definetely will enjoy "Inglourious Basterds" -- It's just good to have diversity of popular entertainment imo. Sure I won't watch b/c I'm not a fan of professional karoke, but I kind of like it that other people do watch the show.
