taintedzodiac: Even the puns are wrong on this one. Cid is by far the best video game mechanic.

Word up.
I'm a big fan of mouselook. I remember playing Doom, before mouselook, and using the arrow keys on the keyboard to aim... and if an enemy was really high above your shots magically shot upwards at them (there was no aiming up or down, just right and left).
That was my serious reply. Jokingly, my favorite game mechanic as of late (because Cid and Slippy both stink), were the condoms in Fable 2. Virtual STD's is serious business. If Mario jumps on the wrong turtle and gets herpes, is the princess even going to WANT to be saved? Mario says "Be-a safe while-a plumbing!"
I want to see more RPGs using timed criticals and blocks. I know it really wouldn't work in a real time game, but does anybody else hit the action button when your character hits the enemy hoping for some reason this time it will make you do more damage.
They executed it perfectly in Super Mario RPG...and it's a mechanic that isn't used nearly as often as it should.

Eternal Sonata used this extensively, and Lost Odyssey did to a lesser degree.

I like that a lot, when there's a reason for it. Like in FFVIII, how the critical was from firing the gun sword at the right time.
These can be done way bad though, too. Like Last Remnant, where it's such a pain you just switch it to auto, then a 1/2 hour later you get an aceivement for how great your critical hit timing is.
Wario took some serious steroids I believe.
