I saw Final Destination last night. (the 1st one not the one that came out in August). Overall decent horror flick and I liked some of the death scenes.

Rating : 3.5/5

Wife and I watched "Up" last night.  It was pretty good.  I'm glad they prefaced how the old man became the old man in the beginning and he wasn't just some cranky old man.

I'll give it 3.5/5

I liked the movie but thought that the beginning was probably the saddest of any Disney movie I've seen.

Yeah we were sitting there watching and I think in unison we were like "this is freakin' sad!"

Old Yeller? Fox and the Hound? Bambi was pretty sad, but *SPOILERS* Bambi's mother wasn't really a very developed character */SPOILERS* Lion King was supposed to be sad, but it never really bothered me.

I do agree though, Up was over-all a very sad movie, because it forces us to reflect on our lives and the lives of those close to us and places us in the shoes of an old man with many regrets. Definitely up there with Old Yeller and Fox and the Hound, two of the saddest movies I've seen.

Same here for the wife and I.  I was wondering at the time how kids felt about the movie? Seemed like it could be a little much for the average 6 year old.

My kids (ages 5 to 10) didn't really seem to grasp that part of the movie and were pretty unaffected. Marley and Me, on the other hand, affected my 10-year-old greatly but not the others.

I was actually quite surprised to see blood on the construction worker's head after the old man hit him with his walker.

It's ok to admit you cried too, it doesn't make you any less of a man.

Style points, I like it. Beats the old "something in my eye" excuse.

Just finished watching Taking Chance.  Based on real events, Kevin Bacon plays a Marine Col. who volunteers to escort the body of a young Marine KIA back to his family in Wyoming.  This is the first time I've cried through an entire movie. [:'(] Embarrassed  It was very well done, neither pro nor anti-war.  I highly recommend it!

It's interesting that the OP ranked Spiderwick chronicles as a 3/5.  I went on a trip with some friends a few years back and the film was playing during the plane ride.  Since there was nothing else to do, we all watched the movie, and some of us fell asleep.  I'd personally give it 1/5 stars.

The film was derivative, dull, and predictable.  It lacked a theme, which is odd for a kids movie based on a book.  I wish that I would have been one of the lucky ones who managed to fall asleep.
