I was originally against the free points and trading token for new members, because I saw that as a way to inject lots of points into the system and remove a lot of the 100 point games (and those people wouldn't really ever trade again). Now, this is a lot worse. Only a fraction of new people who do this will trade here again, I believe (the current members of course will stay; but it's still not a good idea).

The team has to make money, sure, but this shouldn't be the way to do it. Unlike what one comment said above, this is not like amazon having a sale on a game for 50% off, because the point value in this system is the money. It's like selling $50 for $25. There's going to be a lot more points in the system now, and fewer games.

If you want a deal, make it on the tokens; the points should never be messed with. My opinion.

i completely agree, if economics wasn't about guesses, we would never know what a recession was lol,

that was jsut my simple explanation for this, but hey, i'm happy as long as i get my games

Actually alot of titles in my queue dropped 50  points.  Edited as I went back and looked at a my most recent email.  Out of 200 items on my request list only 37 had change.  25 went down 50 points and 12 went up 50 points.

Here is an example of why this is a bad idea.  I was about to trade away Fallout 3 on here for 1000 points.  But since 1000 points only equals $25, I decided to sell on Craigslist for $40 and just buy 1000 points for $25 so I am making a $15 profit.  This is great for me except for the fact that I am sure other people are doing the same thing so it is going to be harder to get such popular games on here.

Like others have said it's not going to last forever, according to the main screen you'll only be able to buy them half off until Dec. 31st.

yeah, it's really not that bad like some of the deals on black friday and how i flipped fracture for 1000 points and got to play it a little when after shipping costs and purchase of the game it was less than $20, also i got 650 plus tip for buying a wii game from amazon for $9.95 and had free shipping with amazon prime, that i sent directly to the buyer.

The whole 50% off on gift cards is a big gamble by Goozex.  It also makes me wonder about their cash position too.

I agree. It may help some older games move b/c technically they'd be paying a much lower price. Nice post cbyler.
