Your Pile of shame

There was an article on The BBPS site where the writers of the site and the community that supports it talked about the games that they owned that they haven't gotten around to playing... and they referred to those games as their pile of shame.

Since this is a game trading site, I thought that topic would also be relevant here as well, and since I too had recently written about my own pile of shame at my blog, it seems I have an image to start this discussion with.

My Pile of shame is over 90 games and runs the gamut from sports titles, shooters, racing games and even an RPG or two (like Final Fantasy XII).

So, how big and what is in your pile of shame?

I have yet to play...

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All (Still Sealed)

All of my Genesis games (Don't have a working Genesis)

A few Playstation and NES games

Forza Motorsport 2

And that's really it. I'm sure there are some more I'm forgetting about.

The one that immediately comes to mind is Mistmare (PC) - I played the demo some and then requested it here ... haven't even installed it yet.

Other than that, just two games I got two weeks ago on GoodOldGames - Disciples 2 Gold and Fallout Tactics.  Yep, despite being a big fan of Fallout 1 & 2 I never played Tactics.

Everything else I have at least installed and played for an hour or more.  And that is, well, just too many games to ponder ...

I've completed most of my games (or that most you probably want to do), except for Zelda: Twilight Princess. Surprisingly, my favorite series (or game) would be the zelda games hands down. But, I haven't really felt like completing another Zelda game, and I've had it a year brand new.

I really don't have a pile at all. I always wait for reviews to come out before purchasing (unless of course it's Zelda, or another series that never fails).

Every series fails from time to time.  Zelda 2, The Adventures of Link, for example. 

Or another example, take Final Fantasy, it's had a few failures..  Mystic Quest... Crystal Chronicles... 9, 11, and X-2.  I'd list 12 as well, but I'm a sucker for Star Wars and Final Fantasy, so when you take FF characters and have them acting out a blatant rip off of the plot of Star Wars, I'm all over it.

Pretty much all the games I own are in my pile of shame, as I rarely fully complete games (with the exception of XBLA titles). ANd with achievements, I almost never fully "complete" games, as I don't have the stamina to knock out a full 1000 points before the next purdy, new shiny things comes along.

I liked IX and even though I played through X-2 twice, I agree it is a failure.  While I haven't played all of the FF's I'd add VII to the list of failures.

If I'm not going to play a game relatively soon, I just don't get it in the first place. In my opinion that's just wasted money. I don't see how you can go get a game and then never play it. Of course I'm not nearly as hardcore of a gamer as 90+% of the people on here either so that's probably why. But 90 games..... ? Dude.

They are PS2 games, a console which is in its last days as a retail entity. If I don't pick up games I am interested in when I see them, I would then have to jump through some hoops and/or pay more for them when I really want to play them.

That is a good point.  Most of those games are for an older console.  Might as well snag em up while you still can.  The more time that goes by, the harder it will be to find games you want in good shape.

It's a small pile of Shame, a few older ps2 games like God of War, Madden 04 (why do I own this?), Red Dead revolver, and Burnout Revenge.  PS3 its Fallout 3 .  I scaled down my collection to make more room.

Oh man, I had a huge stack of games I never played:

Fable, Star Wars Rogue Squadron: Rogue Leader III, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, TimeSplitters 2, World of Warcraft, Spiderman 2, to name a couple, luckily I've traded a few and sold a couple to get rid of them.

My pile of shame, or backlog as I call it, runs around 50 games or so.  Most of those are older PC and Xbox games that I have picked up in the last year or 2 but haven't yet gotten around to playing because of the new shiny's that I keep getting from here.   The games include Might & Magic 6 - 11, The Command & Conquer collection (5 games), Beyond Good & Evil, The Chronicles of Riddick: escape from butcher bay,  Neverwinter Nights diamond collection, Mario Kart Double Dash, and many, many more.  As you can see there are some very good games that I have yet to get around to.
