Every store that deals in used games rips people off.

i dont think they do it intentionally; but i know for a fact that they never test the games
Realistically, testing the games would be foolish.
What I mean is, these stores take in a LOT of used games every day. If they stopped to check every single game they took in, the lines would constantly stretch out the door, assuming most of their customers wouldn't get impatient and walk away. Keep in mind, some games never even present any issues until you play them for hours or even days.
That being said, in most of the stores I've been to (the well-run stores anyway) the clerks will check the disk before they take it in. If it's badly scratched (which none of mine are since I'm anal about my games), they charge a refurbishing fee (a deduction taken out of the game's trade-in value) and the send the disk to be resurfaced. If the disk is really horribly scratched (or if the refurb. fee would make the trade pointless), then they just won't take it.
Testing systems should be mandatory for each store, and they usually only get a dozen or less per day on average. Testing games would just lead to customers bitching about something else.
i first said no, but then again my experience today is just making me mad. i first said no because this store i go to usually across town hooks me up and is great with customers. An example was that my pops picked up gears 2 the day it came out and the guy gave him the midnight golden hammerburst code and they always give us good trade in values for the games vs. the store close to us.
now i gave my pops a couple games to trade in (the orange box-$14 and shadowrun-$9 vs. 550 points for both from goozex) and he went to the one near us for some strange reason. so, since it's there i have to pay off the rest of the balance at that store according to them, so i go and take in 3 games for trade and i would've got a $15 dollar bonus at the across town store but this one only gave me $10 because it was 3 not 4 games or they would've gave me a $20 bonus. I accepted this after a brief discusssion with the manager on "how it works".
after that i was ehh, GS is still a good deal sometimes when pre-ordering or buying used with coupons and edge card. then today i go to pick up my copy of CoD:WaW and they still haven't got it in. the funny thing was i called 2 days prior and asked when can i pick up my copy and they said at 10 pm last night, then yesterday my pops called and the manager told him it could be picked up at midnight. now, there was GS that were not having a midnight release for anything and were giving away copies at 5pm yesterday. So after raising cain at the store talking with the manager the best that they would do would to make up for it was to give me the credit on an edge card and i could go get it at another store, now i have $60 in GS credit and i have to pick it up at another place and they better not charge me tax.
Edit: also i got the generic phone call from GS saying i could pick up my pre-order at midnight.

That manager is an idiot, but the coupon only works for multiples of 2. My GS is doing the 10%, 20%, 30% deal again.

no it was the trade in 2 next gen games and get $10 bonus credit deal that they did but at the other store they would give me $5 extra for every one after the other 2.
Thats why i love the other one and they always hook me up and made games like orange box, shadowrun (200 points at time of trade in), the arcade disc that comes with the arcade 360, CoD3 and gears 1 worth the trade in vs. the goozex lines or low point values on said games.
Yes, horribly....i took my Halo 2 special edition, full package, a week or 2 after it came out there to trade it in for money and they only gave me $30 for it and it cost basicly double that and i BARELY used it...i bet they sold that thing for like $60..@$$holes. Unfortunately i didn't know about this site back then. =/

it must've been the hippie hair
Hire some1 to sit in the back and play the used games they receive....If something is wrong with the game sell it for what they bought it for maybe a couple(1 or 2) more dollars than what they paid(still making a profit). If the game is perfectly fine sell it for a price that they think its worth. problem solved.
And HA HA HA your so funny JOE...J-jewish O-opera E-Emigrant?

It would take more than one guy to test all the games they get. Additional staff would only mean they would offer less money for each game they bought from people.
In case you missed it, here's the link to the site that might answer these and many more questions (expecially if you watch all of the episodes).

That is great, but he could get fired for that.
I've bought only one game from EB games in my lifetime, and it was definitly going to be my last. Used games are only 5 dollars less than the full priced ones? You've got to me kidding me. Also the fact they give you 35 maximum for a game is just rediculous, and good luck with games that are over 6 months old because you'll probably get only 10 dollars for it while they sell it for 50. Also they sell used games as new, this whole open boxed crap. I remember I was going to buy a so called new game, and they just took a an empty cased and stuff a manual and a disk in there, told them unless there going to give me a sealed copy I'll just go elsewhere. Also they will have a lot of stock of something, but if you want it on day one you have to pre order. I hardly pre order because I can get the game anytime I want and they never get sold out on the first day. This and other shady business practises is the reason I stay away from Ebgames entirely. Ofcourse it might be a good thing, since instead of me going there to get ripped off, I found this site instead.

Dang! Sound likes Gamestop screwed you. Its ok man thats why we have Goozex. You maybe confused in me saying Gamestop, not EB, but assure you they are the exact same store!!!. The same company, same selection, same predcure, same shit. Seriously, theres no reason for EB to even exist, it is exactly the same as GS, all it is a different name. Pretty sure Gamestop just wants people buying from them without knowing it, but when I walk to EB Games, I don't see any difference anyway because a name change only goes so far.
drognar the only difference is that that ebgames is probably even cheaper than the other store and didn't want to pay to re-sign and redo their systems.
