This is a new scheme that I'm just recently learning about. So, I was pretty high for a new game, Dead Space, like 2nd (lost a lot of sleep staying up for that one). Then I get an match from a totally new user (of course) who just so happens to want to trade this game first. Fine, I think, it's no problem. But of course the person is going to wait the entire time, 26 hours (and why not 24 hours?) and will not accept the trade. Gosh, no, why would they accept the trade? That would assume they really have the game! (sarcasm). So, while this is going on, the game is traded twice, and I will eventually be put back in line at place 2.

This is not the first time this has happened, I'm noticing it a LOT. Are people next in line doing this to get the game faster? i.e. lock up the person ahead of them in a fake offer to be next in line for a real trade? And of course they won't reply to PM's. Is there anything that can be done about this? If Goozex had an IP check to make sure 2 accounts were not coming from the same IP, that might be enough, but I don't know if Goozex has anything like this.

This is just a rant about an annoying thing; it's not breaking the system, it's just totally irritating. Anyway we can cut down on this? It's always a new user account doing it, probably using a fake address as well; that's why I'm suggesting an IP check. Any suggestions?

seems kinda outladish, but I guess anything is possible.

I don't think they let people even sign up under mulitple accounts from the same IP.

All you would need is a proxy to fix that anyway.

You would think, and I did too for a while. I thought it kept happening by chance; but it happens a lot more now, especially with the new round of recent releases, and ONLY happens on new games; it has never really happened on an old game for me.

i doubt there's this conspiracy related to newer games; ive been first in line for quite a few games and this has not happened to me

Pizza guys are getting worse and worse looking. I guess all the good ones went into porn.

That's an interesting theory.  I haven't seen any evidence of it happening.  Hopefully there are some safeguards built into the system to prevent this.  I would imagine you would have to go to a lot of effort if you weren't in the top few spots to pull something like that off.

This is a good idea. Thanks.

I'm 2nd for a couple games right now. Maybe I'll sign up an account and tie up the #1 spot till I get mine.

My guess is that they just forgot to check their Email, but it could happen.Hmm

Yes, this scheme is happening. I have seen several trades via  the 'Activity Stats' sidebar where Fable II was traded by new users who were all created on the same day: 11/10/08. Someone is creating multiple accounts to lock up everyone in front of him/her so they can get in front of the line much quicker.

I advise Goozex to take a look at all the Fable II tradings in the past days and they'll see a lot of fake offers. They should serious investigate this and ban this person

This might be happening to me right now...

I was 2nd in line for Gears of War 2, and this person is also trading Guitar Hero World Tour, but has no trades out or in. I wish as a buyer we can deny a seller...can we do that?

I noticed that this user who actually isn't new, registered in August and still has no trades, meaning they probably are not sending me the game. I mean, who is on the site for 3 months and doesn't make one single trade.

I think I will email goozex right now...I know I could probably search, but which goozex email would it be best to send this dispute to?

The lengths to which some people try to beat this system - or any system - really astounds me.

I had something similar happen, the difference is that they accepted the trade, held me up for a few days then later canceled the trade, in the mean time there were 3 trades that bypassed me.  I finally got the game 3-4 weeks later but I should have gotten it much sooner.

The worst part is that when the other people got matched I didn't even move up in line as I was at 19 at the time.

I can personally vouch for the "Fable II" New users.  Right now it says position "3", and over the last few days I have been matched up twice with new users--both of which timed out.  This is rather interesting, and I would have never thought that is what was happening.  Thanks OP for pointing this out, I'm sure if Goozex doesn't have any safeguards for this sort of thing they will think of something fair.

It's seems I've been struck with the fabled (sorry for the play on words cody) Fake Offer. It's been just a few days since the release of Smackdown vs Raw 09 and I was matched yesterday. I was pretty excited at first, then I checked the person who I was matched with and it's one of these 0 trades people. Interestingly enough though, their account was made in December of last year, so perhaps this is a long running thing that has somehow caught on?

Either way I'm not happy, I hate it when people are trying to get something over me. Since the user had a name and a number after their the name I did a member search for the name of the user leaving out the number to see if I maybe could find a trend IE: User224, User225 or something of the likes, and while I found some similar, it certainly wasn't enough to confirm my suspicions.

Goozex really needs to figure out a way to counter this. 2nd in line for Gears 2 and I get matched with a fake offer. I wait 5 or 6 days and I get a response from my feedback@goozex.com email. I get that issue resolved, Gears 2 is on hold and I switch it to active.

And just now I got matched with another 0 trade user with an account made on the 8th of Sept.

Maybe goozex can keep users with 0 trades from trading 1000 point games?
