I was hoping maybe this thread would be about literature. Stick out tongue

I read comics/graphic novels when my wife is shopping at the mall. I cross the street to Borders and enjoy a coffee and catch up on the what's going on in the world of Spandex, among others.

I read through Marvel's Siege and it seemed very weak compared to the previous, er, events?

I wish I could find a series I missed previously that was a revelation, like Preacher, Walking Dead, Y: The Last Man...

Comics, same as always. Most everything marvel puts out. Heralds and ASM are, I believe, the last two I read. Mostly reading current stuff trying to catch up (although current in this case can mean 2008...). I think, currently, the only non-marvel I'm getting is Hack/Slash.

Well, just over a week ago I bought my wife an early anniversary present - a nook.  Now we are reading 'The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo' by Steig Larsson ... her on the nook and me using the B&N reader on my iPad.  Sweet.

Is the Nook only available in the US?  I know my parents are considering an e-book reader (they'll need two) for when they go to Mexico for four months.

Aside from failing to destroy natural resources, poison the environment and adding to the cancer toll (ever been to a paper mill town?) ... in what way am I *not* reading a 'real' book? Wink

I'm not exactly sure, but I do know the Kindle is available officially in Canada, whereas the nook seems to be a bit sketchy in terms of support for both the device and the ebook store.  You might want to check online with BN.

Zenescope stuff, decent, the art usually makes up for the mediocre writing

New Batgirl

Way better than I thought it would be sans Cass. Of course the cast ties into Batman/Robin reborn so it's a nice mix

I got snookered into this one w/ the hype of it being cancelled. It's not nearly as good as promised, it's way cheesey in the dialog/story.  Luckily the artwork holds it together but damn "Cade" is one cheeseball MOFO and they use terms like "Noobs" in the dialog.

Retro GL, really shows how writing can make or break.  The Alan Moore story is fantastic, the other writers are just stiff, filling entire comics w/ way too many dialog bubbles and narration

Very clever, American Jesus

Just read the Batwoman last night, wow, way better than I thought it would be.  Art is a lil too trippy but it fits.

Robin Year 1 was pretty strong

Army@Love is a great satire of global corporations running the military industrial complex

All caught up on the GNs for SCALPED.  Good lord this comic is epic and one of the best series I've read in years

Must read for animal lovers

Northlanders is fantastic

This one shot is well worth reading if you like stories about war.

I watched the movie after someone recommended the book to me and I do like the movie, have not gotten the book yet though but I here it is great and even better.

I am starting to read the James Potter Series, which is fan fiction but it is been well received and is very similar to a J.K.  Rowlings writing style. It is free and in a .pdf format on the official site. So far I am really enjoying it.

Comics :

  • Critical Millennium - not bad but too early to tell (seeing as how it just started)
  • Awakening vol.1 - this one is pretty interesting and has me really waiting to see where they go with it, another zombie story but better put together than most recent ones.

Books :

  • Out of the Dark : The Complete Guide to Beings From Beyond - quite interesting read so far (about half way through).  I wouldn't call it a "guide" necessarily as the entire chapter on Ghosts are just other people's accounts of their own experience's but it get's more "informative" when it starts in on cryptozoology and mythical creatures.

I'm reading a whole bunch of other comics and graphic novels but those two are the most recent that I've finished.

Reading Sandman. It's been a while and I forgot how interesting the story is. :)

I am a big fan of the Jim Butcher's "The Dresden Files" books, and recently picked up one of the new graphic novels. Great storyline, lots of humor.

I just read "One Land, One King" by Y.S. Hassan (book) which was very good, like a blending of fantasy and mythology.

I am currently reading alot of dc comics

Red Robin (My favorite so far)

The New Batman and robin with dick & damian)

Booster Gold

Brightest day

The new Green arrow series

The new Flash series

Justice Leauge Generation Lost

Red Hood: Lost days

I would like to branch off of dc and try marvel but I just don't really see anything that looks appealing. I want to read captain america but I don't know where to start I would have liked to have started when bucky took over but that would be a decent bit of catch up to do.

I was kinda interested in Fantastic four but I'm not sure. If you guys could give me some good marvel series to pick up and start reading I might look into it. ^_^

Besides comics I'm currently re-reading for the third time Cursor's Fury by jim butcher (one of the best authors ever!)

I just finished his book Changes from the dresden files which was very good!
