Ricky0282:

I just finished Fight Club.  I listened to the Audiobook so it took a little while to follow some of the back and forth because of the way it was written, and would have been easier had I actually read it.  Otherwise it was a very good book with some interesting differences from the movie.

I think the movie was better though.

I think if you actually read the book it you would think it's better than the movie. The book just had so much more depth to it and the characters felt a lot more real in it.

As for what I'm reading I'm reading the 9th Sookie Stackhouse book. Afterwards I think I'm going to give the Codex Alera series a shot I have heard good things and Jim Butcher is one of my favorite authors.

I finished up with the 9th book last week.  There's a lot of stuff crammed in there and it's like reading three different books.  I think I'm ready for the series to end.  I hope the next book is the last one.

Currently I'm reading Philip K. Dick's Humpty Dumpty in Oakland.

I'm of the opinion that Philip K. Dick is one of the single best writers of science fiction.  This however is quite a bit different from his usual stuff.  Instead of surrealist sci fi, the novel is more realist exploration of the human condition alone the lines of Raymond Carver.  I haven't gotten too far into it, but it's good stuff.

Yeah the 9th book was pretty fast paced and from the way it read it sounds like she is getting ready to wrap the series up. A lot of people believe that it will end with book 12 because she has a lot more material left. I still enjoyed it none the less though.

As for my reading I'm reading Furies of Calderon, and so far it's pretty good.

I started reading the books based on the HBO series "Trueblood" aka the Sookie Stackhouse Series,   man they are good.  Incredibly well written, funny, scary, sexy......just great reading.   First book is called Dead Until Dark,  I seriously suggest this to anyone who can pick up a book.

I recently got ahold of the Ultimate X-Men TPB's, and they're fantastic.  I also went back and re-read the "Star Wars Infinities" series for the story, and "Star Wars Visionaries" (a bunch of one-shots from the concept artists of Episode 3), because the art is beautiful.

And I'm up to date on "Clone Wars" as well... still reserving judgement.

I'm reading The Wars by Timothy Findley for my summer school course. There's no cliffsnotes or sparksnotes on it. I think it's because it's a Canadian novel based on Canadian history and the epitomy of the Canadian soldier in WWI and these American companies are a bunch of elitist bastards. I'm actually not sure if they're American companies but I assume they are. Or maybe it's cause of the scenes depicting homosexuality and these companies are christian. Or something. Anyways, due to lack of cliffsnotes I actually had to read the novel and I'm finding that it's alot harder to BS my way through it than something like To Kill a Mocking Bird.

Also new Street Fighter comic came out today. Whee

Read this last night, pretty cool stuff although it should have been 2-3x longer.  If the nonsense "war games" can last 3 full size GNs this should have at least been a full size and not a mini 5 parter

The finale of the mini series The Pacific detailed the post war lives of the Marines discussed throughout the film and one section mentioned 'Sledgehammer's' book he'd written long after the war; one based off the notes he'd written throughout the conflict (an act shown repeatedly in the series), called With the Old Breed.

Quite an 'enjoyable' read....assuming reading about the horrors of war can be classified as enjoyable.  It is written in a rather unbiased tone, detailing everything from basic training right on through the war.
