people go to UT for a couple of reasons

1) top public school ( i guess it depends on what your studying but mech eng is top 15 and business top 10)

2) women

3) sports

4) women

this is important to note that of the top 4, women hold 2 of the spots. There is a saying here that goes "some girls come here for a MRS degree".

yes. the women here are out of this world. That can do that when you hover at the largest school in the nation.

I thought that the OSU v. UT game was excellent.  Such a close game, full of some superb plays.

The tech game should be really interesting.   Seriously, Alabama is still number 2?  PSU had a much more convincing game against the perpetually over-ranked Ohio State team.  In my opinion, they should be number 2...  Even a 1 loss Big 12 champion will go to a national championship before USC...so I'm not too worried about that.

In the end, I think it will be PSU v. UT in the BCS if they win out the season (even if alabama wins out as well).  Alabama will likely play OU if they both win out.

Wow, but off topic to the Big 12... How about the Tulsa team?  Is anybody else as shocked as me about how well they are doing this season, having one hell of an offense.  I don't anticipate them breaking the top 10 because they ARE conference USA... but color me impressed.

not fair for tulsa, I want to see them roll with the big boys. Never know because the system is so screwed up.

Spoon, so sorry for you. It looked like a heckuva game (didn't see it as we were out that night). Let the one-loss unfairness rain down upon you and spark furious anger.

I'll be there with you if PSU loses any close ones, or some other team from the SEC/Big 12 ends up with a fat O in their loss column along with us (somehow I get this feeling that PSU will win out and yet go down in mindshare before this season is done).

If anyone is interested, I'll be running my own Selection Saturday Dec. 6 by selecting a 32 team tournament and simming the results out with NCAA Football 09. Did it last year and the result turned out pretty good; it was actually more entertaining sometimes watching a fake football game that meant more in a fake tournament than the "real" bowl games on TV.

That UT - Texas Tech game was so good that it was being played on ESPN Classic the next morning.

Stay gold, Ponyboy.

here is my rant

Home field advantage does count. I know stuff won't get called. fine.

BUT

on the play our star DE Orakpo gets hurt they play it in slow motion. he does a spin move on the tackle but the tackle is holding his jersey and ends up bear hugging orakpo to the ground injuring him in the process. When a 330+ lineman bear hugs you and falls on you while your spinning your knee is going to give. No call, No foul. All game it was like that.

UT didn't have their best posession wr in Crosby (hurt very early in the game) and lost Orakpo (best DE in the country) midway through the game.

UT played poor. Dropped a wide open td by Shipely. Would have ended the game on a tip INT but our rookie Saftey dropped it. I actually jumped up and shouted "Gameover Sucka!" only to see the ball drop. NOOOOOOOOOO

We had multiple chances to win and actually was winning. Inexperience at DB hurt us.

Neutral field with us running more should change the outcome.

I give all props to Tech (besides their holding Oline), as Crabtree is a stud and Tech QB has a canon.

Too bad we dropped 2 ints that hit us in the chest. We deserved to lose.

Too bad Tech has to go through Big 12 South hell and play OU and OSU. good luck with that. ;)

so texas loses in the last second to texas tech in tech. Could have put it away 2 times or some say 3 times if they would have just sat on the ball on the goal line.

So texas loses vaulting tech to #2

Alabama barely wins against a qb who is leading the NCAA in INT returned for td. LSU qb has 4int that game and barely lets Alabama win.

Penn State on the other hand. muhahahhaha. GOOOOOOO Iowa!!! Weren't they unranked?

Main reason I hate the BCS.

Teams like Ohio State and USC will always be in the hunt to show up at the Championship game because they do NOT have a strong conference and still don't have the extra conference game.

Ex.

What if tech goes to the big 12 and loses to Mizz. MIZZ is by no means a good team anymore but since they win the big 12 might have a shot for the title? If tech goes to the big 12 that means UT and OU both get snubbed. UT with one loss to Tech and OU with losses to #1 UT and #2 Tech.

Now that isn't fair.

Then you get these cake walk schedules like USC and Penn that play no highly ranked teams.

Now I don't like OU. but if their only 2 losses are from the #1 and #2 teams in the nation I don't think it's fair that a 1 loss team USC (lost to oregon state, hahahha) and Penn State (Iowa baby!).

Barack the vote! Barack wants a 8 team playoff.
