Just like bracket 3 , although I have all but one of these games (no crysis here) I've only played one so my vote goes to that one , CoD4.

I admit , I really need to play Half-Life 2 (and the original for that matter. started it on the PS2 but never finished it). I picked up the orange box on sale but haven't even touched it.

I sided with Half-life on this one. The shooting was great and the story made the game perfect.

Bioshock

In this bracket, I have played and enjoyed all 5 games, but in the end Ken Levine's trip to Rapture takes the cake for me. It narrowly beat out Half-life 2, because of the atmosphere. The music, the graphics, the weapons, they all felt right. Even the pretty binary ending, had more of an impact on me then most of the scenes in Half-life 2 (if we thew the episodes in, it might be different). While Gordon Freeman is a personal hero of mine, I am not sure how long him and the HEV suit would last in rapture.

Crysis could have used more creepy little girls, FEAR could have used less, and COD4 just did not do it for me. I know there is a pretty jarring scene in the game, but I just never got the feeling I was doing anything more then playing a game, which is something Bioshock made me forget at points.

Ya cod4 dint do it for me either . I guess im not a fan of multiplayer games on consoles . So I couldn't get in it that much . Loved the single player though, very nice visuals . Half life 2 is the god of all shooters for me . Bioshock played on my pc, but it was way to dark ( had to be my pc ) so I couldn't get far, although im buying it this month for the 360 . Fear I absolutely loved the setting, and crysis well ... TEH GRAPHICS

Who the hell forgets Duke Nukem 3d on the list for best FPS of all time? Because of this idiocy I will not be participating.

My Vote goes to Half-life 2 because the Story was awesome, gameplay was awesome and in my opinion it was groundbreaking to me with weapons and environment interaction. Great Game.

How the hell did Fear garner a vote. I mean, the game was decent, kinda repetative with a glitchy story but most of all, uber glitchy gameplay with tons of bugs. But then again I hear that was only a problem with the 360 port, which is the one I jumped into. I need to grab a copy of this for the PC cause i heard much better things.

Man, it is a shame when ports ruin titles. People in charge should gouge out their eyeballs and slam salt into them.

I think that is part of the problem - what feels like it should be a community effort is actually one guys poll.  Nothing wrong with that - but I know that is what killed it for me.  And I've been a major FPS hound since I was anticipating Wolf3D because I was a *huge* Castle Wolfenstein fan from the early 80's.
