I have a copy of Fire Emblem 2 that doesn't save anymore. Some kid yanked the cart out of my DS while it was on. Is there a battery in the cart that can be replaced or is the cart now useless. You can play missions but the save data doesn't stick.
It's my understanding that unless they have a game clock based on real time, most GBA games don't have a battery and just rely upon flash-based memory. You can always try prying open the cart to check, but even if it does have a battery you'd need to do some soldering to replace it. You're probably better off just getting a new cartridge...
Are you confident that your cart is a legit Nintendo cart? Could it be a pirated cart?

It's a legit copy. I bought it used at Microplay with box and booklet. Looks like I'll be adding this one to my request list.
Thanks for the replys.
Have you tried leaving it out of the system for several hours? That would allow the game to discharge if it is 'stuck'. There is no battery, but flash ram can get messed up if it is left in an 'indeterminate state'. You should see if the game offers a 'erase all save data' option. Can't recall the universal one for GBA, think it is something like Up on the D-pad and also B and Select while the system is starting up.

First I hear of this. Can this reset work on the DS? I've looked around the web and haven't found anything.

I'm not sure - there is amethod for resetting the game, don't know how it works on the DS. Do you have access to a GBA?
"Soft reset"A + B + L + Ralternatively,A + B + SELECT + STARTThe game resets.
No GBA. Sold it to get my DS.
I've tried a few of these button combinations and they don't work.
