Is it possible for you to do a Duo-Boot? Have both XP and Vista installed on your pc and you can pick which OS you want Windows to start.

Yea, You can dual boot. I was going to do that when I got my new laptop but then I saw that Vista ran just fine and decided it wasn't worth the hastle.

That's pretty much what it would be.  A hassle.  Unless you really wanted to have a dual boot setup, it's just something to slow down the booting up your PC.

You will definitly get better performance with XP but you wont get Dx10. Id stick with vista, with that power it wont make much of a difference ( i dont think any windows system, 64 or 32 bit recognizes 6GB of RAM though)

Windows 64 bit operating systems can recognize way more than 6gb of ram it is the 32 bit operating system that has a maximum of 4gb of ram between the video card and the system ram.  So if you have a 512mb video card your system can only recognize roughly 3.5gb of ram.

Hey everybody!  Since you guys are still warring over which is better, check this out:

http://www.mojaveexperiment.com/?WT.srch=1

It's Windows Mojave, the newest OS out there!

P.S.  I'm not dumb even if you are thinking that right now.  You'll see.

Go with Vista. I have been using it since it launched and just about all of the incompatibility issues have been resolved. They were the result of the 3rd party hardware manufacturers not updating their drivers. There is a quite a bit of good new things in Vista like the realtime search and UAC that make it alone worth the upgrade.  No point in living in the past.

Make the jump and if it comes pre-installed on your computer I can almost guarantee you won't see any problems. I would double check though to make sure you do not have any hardware like printers and such that are incompatible. Check the manufacturer's website to make sure.
