Shadow Tyrant:

So here's another question: I've already played through CoD4 twice. Should I trade it in for the points and get GoW or Ass Creed, or should I just keep playing it?

If there's even the slightest chance you will get a Live account, keep it. It's one of the best multiplayer experiences available. If not, trade it in while it's still hot and get another game.

...I still feel like I'm missing out on a chunk of it because I can't afford to give Microsoft all my money.

$40 a year is "all your money"?

Yea I'll say it, "meh, Gears is alright".  I enjoyed it more as a co-op game though.  I just traded it away last week, couldn't keep the fire going, I never finished it :(

You're not into RPGs, but Oblivion and Mass Effect aren't your usual RPGs if that perks your interest at all.  I'm the same way, but Oblivion is one of my all time favs for the 360.   Also, like a previous poster said before, if you are even remotely into racing Forza 2 is a must.  I'll give a shout out to the Condemned games too if you like getting the crap scared out of you.  Great first person perspective games that have some tense and satisfying melee combat.

how about guitar hero 3 or rockband!

I'll keep those in mind, Nick. Though I was saving my 'racing fund' for Grid. The only RPG I've ever really been obsessed over was Fable, so if Oblivion is anything like that, I might actually try it.

I already have GH3 for the Wii, and Rock Band is too expensive.

Oblivion is a western RPG just like Fable.  Mass Effect is also a western RPG.  If you liked Fable, there is a chance you will like those two games also.  And I for a long time only had the GH3 controller and still owned Rock Band.  To me, Rock Band is the best music game out there hands down and I wanted it even if I didn't have the drum set or the mic.

Don't think Fable and Oblivion are too much alike. Fable is much more whimsical and light hearted. Oblivion is a more serious RPG with a huge scope. Fable's world was fairly small. Oblivion is absolutely huge. And while Fable's character progression is done based on three skills Fighting, Magic and Stealth, Oblivions skills are varied and character growth can be easy and hard at the same time. Since enemies scale level with you, leveling up too soon will have you hurting. Fable can be completed in a weekend. I don't know how long it takes to complete Oblivion, I never got close.

I'm not saying Oblivion isn't a good game however, it's one of the best RPG's out there. But I wouldn't necessarily compare it to Fable unless it's done quite loosely.

Trust me, gears of war is amazing.  I mainly played multiplayer, but i went through campaign and it's awesome.  It is a bit short though.

I'm basing this off of only playing the demo of Grid, which I enjoyed alot, and playing hours and hours of Forza.

Maybe give Forza and Grid a rental first then.  To me, the customizing and tense "hundreths of a second" racing are what kept me hooked.  I think Grid is a much more vicseral racing game (more arcadey), that is also prettier than Forza.  I'm not certain but my impression is that Grid and Forza might cater to different racing tastes.  I personally have liked both for what they brought to the table though.

Both Oblivion and Mass Effect can essentially be played like FPS's - I think that's why people keep recomending them to you?  They are both great games, even though Oblivion does have a really wierd and akward leveling system - easy answer there is if you screw up your leveling and the game becomes too hard, just turn the difficulty down.

If you liked Assassin's Creed on PS3, as far as I know it should be rather identical on the 360.

If you're more into Grid than Forza, you should seriously look at Burnout Paradise (which is an awesome but very arcady racing game), and DiRT, which is kind of the predecessor to Grid, but can play as either an arcade racer or a sim racer depending on how you change the game settings.

I want to second everyone's recomendation for the Condemned games.  Although the first and second game are very different - in the second game gunplay is a LOT more prevelant, and settings/situations are quite various, whereas in the first game it's mostly melee combat and mostly in the same few settings.  If you liked F.E.A.R. (which was a FAR better game on PC than Xbox360, btw), the Condemned games are by the same developers as F.E.A.R., and the Condemned games (especially the sequal) are better imo.

Crackdown is a great third-person action game.

Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary are both great games.  Third person acrobatic puzzle games - like Prince of Persia with guns, motorcycles, and boobs.

Prey is an awesome FPS, and it's single player is far and away what the game is for.  SOme people love this game, some hate it, I'm firmly in the love it camp.

Far Cry is a pretty fun FPS.  It has older tech, but the gameplay is excellent, and it basically has 2 games on it, so there's a lot of meat here.

If you liked Fable you should totally check out Overlord.

The reason developers are focusing on multiplayer is because most people who get the next gen consoles opt to play online and be a part of a gaming community and interact with others. Trust me...buying a subscription card for 50 bucks will be the best money you ever spent and if you like to play multiplayer it is well worth the money.

Yeah the console was built for Live.  Before the Xbox 360 was ever released Microsoft did several interviews where they made it clear that the console would be entirely built around the Live experience - and they most certainly delivered on those promises.  Some of the most epic single player games are RPG's, so the fact that you aren't interested in that type of experience says to me you are denying yourself of an experience you would actually want.

I'll have to check out Condemned, then.

Like I mentioned somewhere else (Or maybe it was here, I forget), I have Burnout 3 for the PS2, and that's enough Burnout for me. I know DiRT's the predecessor, but I've heard that Grid is like 10 times better.

I have Prey for the PC, and it was awesome. But my good computer no longer works and it sucks. :/ I don't really feel like buying it again for the 360.

I'll wait for Far Cry 2. I saw the previews for it at E3 and was already thinking about getting it.

Heard good things about Overlord. It's just not very high on my "want it" list.

Someone start a "Get Shadow Tyrant on XBL" fund,  it should only take about four minutes to raise the money for about ten years.
