I seems to me that there are hardly any PC Gamers here on Goozex. Most seem to Console game. I was just wondering cause I have a serious PC Gaming Discussion and am looking for a core group of true PC gamers to discuss with.

PC gaming is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. The sales of CoD 4, and Unreal Tournament III, show that (I think Crysis had soft sales too, not sure though)

PC is the easiet platform to pirate for.

Thats partially what I want to discuss, but every time I have discussed it with an open forum like this, most of the replies are just ranting Console gamers talking about their "better platform" instead of constructive conversation.

I still love PC gaming, but I have to admit that it is a lot easier on the pocketbook to buy the console versions, when available. Keeping up with the Jones's isn't as cheap as it used to be.

Until they make the Baldur's Gates, Icewind Dale's and Torment for the consoles(let me give you a guess when this is planned, and it rhymes with sever) the consoles are a limited commodity.

The one thing a PC always has that a console can sometimes have(PS2, Wii) and sometimes have in different SKUs(PS3) and sometimes have by the Act of Barbie alone(360) is backwards compatability. I still go back and play fallout and oregon trail and other games I loved from when I was younger.

If I purchase Beyond Good and Evil for the Xbox, will I be able to play it when I upgrade my console? No.

While Chris is right that sales are falling and pirates are partially to blame, I cannot ever see giving up PC gaming. Too many great games that were never released for any console.

MMOs are a good example of a genre that just doesn't translate as well to a console experience. And, based on their popularity, I don't see them going away any time soon.

Well consoles have the advantage of dropping  a set ammount  of cash once every 5 years to  enjoy all the games.

With PC games you get nicer looking games but you're dropping a much bigger wad of cash every year if you want to keep your games on max settings. And then you have to deal with drivers and tweaking to get it too run right. I downloaded the Bioshock demo and it ran alright and I probably could have tweaked it to run decently on medium, but I just saved the time and got the 360 version, all I had to do was pop the disc in and start playing

Though some things just work better with a Mouse and Keyboard. I can't immagine playing games like rollercoaster Tycoon or warcraft III with a controller. FPS's I can go either way. I prefer mouse/keyboard but I'm perfectly ok with a controller.

Generally you'll find the regulars who post here to be pretty cool. This is the only place I've ever seen a discussion on the quality of FF VII not erupt into  a flame war.

Been meaning to get that off of steam. I have the PS2 version but I would venture a guess the PC version is a lot prettier, and with the sequel coming up I should finaly beat it.

OMG, Ur cr8zy! FFVII is the h4xor uber.

Actually, sadly I have no idea what I just said, but I agree with Chris, we are generally a more laid back crowd that doesn't like to get into flame wars. You want to discuss piracy and the ramifications on 3rd world country economies, thats fine by me.

Funny that you should mention that because I was matched with a user today for that game for the PS2 and then 15 mins later it dropped 50 pts. No biggie because I am matched with a veteran I trust, so it is worth losing the extra 50, c'est la vie.

I would wager you are right about the PC version being prettier, but the controls on the PS2 just seemed so intuitive.

This is basically the premise of what i wanted to talk about, consoles are easier. I've been thinking about this issue for a long time and have come up with some interesting concepts and ideas to help with this. If i see enough interest then I would be happy to spend the time discussing it with you all. But it will take some time and may threads to discuss. Anyone else up for it? I'm out for tonight, but I'll be back on tomorrow to see if anyone is interested. Part of this is in conjunction with a PC gaming revolution project that I am working on ATM, but I'm not reveling that yet.

I was going to play it with my 360 controller, so I'm good as far as that goes.

ugh.....Good thing I downloaded the demo first. Like most of Ubisofts PC port jobs, this is a mess. Textures flickering in and out and the video out of sync with the audio durring cut-scenes. Guess I'll get the cube version. Will look almost as good as the Xbox version at least, seeing as how the Xbox version isn't backwards compatible. (I will kill whoever decided that this, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Silent Hill 2 don't deserve proper emulation, yet BMX XXX does)

WHy the Gamecube version? From what I had heard it was a sloppy port of the PS2 version. Now, I could be wrong but I am pretty sure it was BGandE the reviews were about. I better go check, but if that is true, until the xbox one is BC, might be better to go with the ps2 version.

And on another note, I agree with you 100%. Those are classics and compared to them, Barbie Horse Adventures just doesn't stack up.

Meh, I have the PS2 version. The whole idea was a graphical upgrade, as the PS2 was easilly the weakest graphically. Though I haven't tried it since I got that accessory that forces 480P on all PS2 games, maybe I should give it another go.

EDIT: from the Gamespot review

".The GameCube version of the game looks fantastic and is only a tiny bit behind the Xbox and PC versions, graphically."
