Hitman: Blood Money (360) this is around $30 New or $20 used and it onsale alot (at least here) for $20 New, 750 points seems like alot, maybe 550 or 600 tops

Blue Dragon (360) also for 950 seems pricey for a game now down to 39.99, maybe 800

The Guy Game for both the PS2 and Xbox is listed at 150 points. The game goes, for the Xbox, for about $30 used and for about $40 for the PS2. Both games have bunches of people requesting them, but neither is listed under available.

I'd recommend that the Xbox version be 550 or 600 points, and the PS2 version 750 or 800.

 Xbox version:

I'd point out The reason the Guy Game is rare is it had a short print run.  The reason it had a short print run was a lawsuit alleging it was child pronography (one of the women is underage), which the makers lost.  It would probably be best not to list it at all as selling it is possibly criminal.

lol, I just saw it in GameStop yesterday, and I've also seen it in a Blockbuster.

There's an article about it.  I'm not sure what the legal issues are.

It looks like "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus" (listed on goozex as "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops +") not to be confused with the previous years title, "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops" is selling for

 $20 retail

 450 points on goozex.

450 points is $22.50 . . . so are you posting to say that it is about right?  I think +/- 50 pts from retail is exactly where games should be.

Seems like it should be below the retail price, considering it (and just about everything else on Goozex) are used goods.

Well, remember that we're not on a cash system here. You can buy points, and thus they have a logical cash value, but a game that is worth $20.00 is not directly worth 400 points. I, for example, would rather spend 500 points than $20 for a game.

From my point of view, a 400 point game IS worth exactly $20 ($21 when you count the trade credit.)  To assume anything else undermines the economy here.

I realize that if you have an abundance of points, you'd rather spend more points than less cash, but that doesn't mean that the points are worth less than 100/$5.  It just means you're willing to pay a premium for a game to avoid further out of pocket costs.

Coming back to point values for games, if a game is selling new for $20, and is readily available, it should be AT MOST 400 points here.  Given that it's a used item, it should probably be going for less.  I know I'm not willing to pay more in points for something that I can get cheaper at Amazon in new condition.

While I do appreciate the discussion and reasonable debate going on here, the fact is that the points are not equivalent directly to the dollar amounts you list, and here's why:

1) You can easily get discounted points by buying more at one time (I always opt for the max amount of points and get a healthy 11.8% discount).

2) Points on games fluxuate based on trading trends, price drops, etc.

3) All games essentially include free shipping in the sense that you only pay the $1.00 trade credit. Most shipping costs between $2-$3, so that's a huge savings if you trade as much as I have been.

4) You can earn free trade credits AND points by referring friends and doing different things on the site.

All that considered, I understand your point but the fact is Goozex IS cheaper 99% of the time due to the above-mentioned things. On top of that, their Goozex guarantee is nearly unbeatable. As for the games and condition, I generally send out brand new games or near-mint games myself so while I respect your positions I can't say I necessarily agree with them.

Sincerely,

As Goomba's said in his recent reply, not everyone has bought points at $5 per 100. For example, I've never bought points. 400 points to me is not $20, nor was it ever even $5. To Goomba, 400 points is 89% of $20. To the common points buye, 400 is indeed $20. It's all relative, and the system accounts for all three types of users, as well as hybrids of those types.

If I can buy a game for $40 at retail or get it for 1000 points here, I'm always going to spend the 1000 points. I don't carry a large amount of points in my account (I only have just over 1000 right now). I also was able to free up $200 from our monthly budget that used to go to video games. In light of rent, utilities, and other costs of living... believe me, points are far less valuable to me than their monetary equivalent.

I used to give myself $50 a week for gaming/personal purchases. Oddly enough that's exactly the $200 a month that taintedzodiac mentioned. The deal was, I got $50 and my wife got $50 and that was that. Since I've started using Goozex last October, I do buy games from time to time, but most of the time I will just get them on Goozex. This has saved me countless hundreds of dollars and for the games that have "long wait" I simply rent them using Gamefly or at Blockbuster locally (though I quit that subscription also since I now have more time for game playing).

The fact is Goozex WILL save you money in the long run. You just have to believe in the system and give it a chance. I'm a full-fledged believer now despite my initial doubts on hearing about the site. If it can change me who was an avid collector and only traded two games in my entire 22 years of gaming, then it can change anyone :)

Well said, Goomba.  I totally agree.  I guess it just takes some time to really learn how the system works.  Eventually, I think mostly everyone can appreciate it.

I guess you're right Goomba, it really could go either way in some situations. I can see a few situtions where gamers might try to "scam" the system by buying games retail for less than their "point equivalent" and then "selling" them on goozex for a far greater value.  This may be a good thing for some gamers (since the person who "sold" the game wins because he got more trade points on the cheep, and the buyer got the game he was after), but I really do think it's somewhat of a disservice to the legitimate buyers who are not aware that a game retails(not just on sale) for less (sometimes much less) than what they can get it for on goozex.

I just think that current retail value of new games should go into the algorithm that goozex uses to factor in game prices (and i'm hoping to some extent that it does).
