ToolShuggah:

Mass Effect Pinnacle Station

Your Price: 600

Suggested Price: 100

Reason: Bring Down The Sky is 100 points and they cost the same on Xbox Marketplace

Bring Down the Sky is less in demand because it can be obtained through other sources.  Pinnacle Station can't.

Assassins Creed 2 Xbox 360

Your price: 1000

Suggested price: 600-700

Reason: $36 new at Amazon, used prices $27

First off, the Amazon price is a price match because Gamestop put this on sale for $40 this week. It is a sale, not an MSRP price drop.

Also, it's based on Supply and Demand. Up until recently, there was still a demand for it with little supply. The supply is starting to build, so I think we will begin to see a price drop soon, but it will be a slow crawl, not an immediate drop to 600 or 700 points. Patience is a virtue my friend.

It needs to exist in one way or another, if only to keep away dozens of threads asking "Why is Harmonica Hero 850 points?  It should be 900!"

you could also argue that the disc version SHOULD be more, because you can PM codes for free, but you have to pay to ship a disc

also, codes are one time use only. You pay your 700 points, they are yours. With the disc, you pay 800 points, but you have the ability to recoup some of your points down the road by re-trading it

I think, that the GOTYO should be doubled the price than the origonal.

Something in general about the points system that bugs me.

A new(used) game is 1000 pts.

1050 pts (if you buy them from Goozex) costs 50 bucks, which kind of makes sense.

But to buy the game new, through Goozex a game costs 2400 pts, which equals 114.29 going buy the price Goozex sells them at.

Considering the fact that Goozex sells points (which are imaginary) and has to actually provide nothing for them, this seems like a bigger scam than Gamestop to me.

I feel like I've heard this somewhere before....deja vu

Yes, the points are imaginary, but the game is not. Goozex does not produce games, so that game has to be purchased to send to you, the Goozex Exchange buyer.

Also, it's basically the same as trading 2 games for a new game, which is still better than you can do at Gamestop(trade 2, get 1 for $20)

Yes, I understand that them selling points is just a way to make a profit and I'm okay with that.

What I'm not okay with, and stop me if I"m being ridiculous, but how do they sell 1050 points for 50 bucks but charge 2400 pts for a new game?

They have every right to make a profit, but a new game is 60 bucks plus tax, not a penny more, and they shouldn't have this inconsistency in their point system.

One thing I didn't consider, and this may explain it, is that points are imaginary and don't translate to dollars for Goozex to spend, thus if you buy a new game with points they have to foot the bill.  Since I don't know how many people buy points, or how much Goozex profits in general from this website, then I will chalk it up to them covering their expenses at our expense for the time being.

I'm confused as to how RE5 Gold(PS3) can go up 50 pts when it just released 2 days ago. I would still pay 950 for it, but it seems perplexing how the system could decide it should go up when it hasn't had enough time to trade yet.

As it was said before whenever this came up, the new games are the goozex exchange.  It's an optional bonus service for people with higher feedback status as a premium bonus option.  Goozex is a used game site, and should be viewed as that.  If you are just in the market for new games, it's not really economical or logic since you would then be putting more value on the "points = money" equation.  Also this balances out the 50% off points sales.
