Game: The Orange Box

System: Xbox 360

Current Point Value: 400 Points

Suggetsted Point Value: 500-550 Points

Reason:     This game has dropped in price by 200 points in a month and at 550 points people put most of all of them on hold (there has been just a few who left it as active and several trades have been going on for most of the time), while the number of request active and ready have been constantly close to 30 people.

This game sells for $27 + shipping used at gamestop.com, $22 + shipping on ebay used to $30 used + shipping, and from amazon its $20 + shipping used to $30 used + shipping.

The cheapest price new at amzon is $27 with free shipping, $30 + shipping at Gamestop.

Plus this game hasn't even been out as long as several others close in its point range, for Example:

Call of Duty 2 was a launch title for the 360 and it goes for 350 points when the is over 200 active and ready to be offered. Plus the GOTY edition goes for 450 and there is +45 active and ready offers and NO active requests.

Another early release for the 360 was Dead Rising that is at 550 points and already became a platnium hit with more active and ready offers than than active requests.

The PS3 version is valued at 500 points on here (apropriately), while the PC version (although not tradeable) is valuaed at 900 points (ridiculus when you can pick up a new one for $35-$40).

This game is definetly a valuable game with offering 5 games in 1 package. Half-life 2, Half-Life 2: episode one, Half Life 2: episode two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. These are all very fun games too might i add, and the current points its valued at here makes it hard to get. A person can trade this game into gamestop for $9 plus if they have 2 more games worth $1.01 or more each they can trade them in at the same time and will get an extra $5 for each game.

Based on the drastically reduced number of people playing it online compared to the PC version, I would think that the Orange Box 360 is worth its current price rather than 30 dollars.

Sadly, percieved gameplay value does not affect the point value of a game...

Everyone needs to understand this before posting.

firenextdoor:

EliteRUSH:

Game: Rock Band 2 (game only) (360)

Points Now: 650

...

It's a brand new game. It should be 1000 points or at least 900. I really want to get it, but nobody is selling it because it's such a low price right now.

As long as you can use the old Rock Band peripherals, I see no reason it should be any less than 1000 points.

Everyone should also understand why this occurs, before posting.  When a game is newly released, it starts out at a low point, and progressively gets higher week by week until it balances out at 1000. It happens with all new games. Just wait a bit and it will reach its optimal value.

Well there is still quite a number of people playing the game online and there will be more when the already offically anounced add-on to which it will include the PC updates, that is making more people play it on the PC verses the 360, is released. Also PC games are usually cheaper than 360 games and when they are released its usually by $10, so i don't think that the price is right, the PS3 version is Apropriately priced. Also:

Game: Wheel of Time

Gozzex Points: 100

Platform: PC

Amazon price for disc only: 6.99

Amazon price for full package: 24.99

Not much incentive right now to offer more than just the disk, but I'm sure that there are people wanting the extras that came with the original game too.

I was gonna mention Ninja Gaiden 2, but you beat me to it.  Even at gamestop, with the no expiration date 20% coupon, and the 10% edge card, you're looking at under $25 for a used copy.

Throw on the buy 2 get 1 free sale this weekend, and you have the potential to get 3000 points off of a $50 purchase...I might have to go to gamestop tomorrow.

Newer games that have a high trade volume (several "trades going on now") and/or lots of active requests tend to float around or even above the MSRP, especially if it's a game that's only recently dropped down in price.  Eventually the Goozex value will drop, but as long as people are willing to request it at the current price it can remain stable for a while.  It also only goes down by 50 points a week maximum.

In any case, the system should automatically take care of price drops without posting in this thread.  Usually, the only time they manually adjust prices is in the case of games that are way under- or over- prices due to collectibility or some other factor.

For Ninja Gaiden, there are 25 trades going on and 10 active requests, so obviously there are tons of people who are fine with the price as it is!

if you want to go that route then  many people are getting more then  3000 pts for 50.

you can find games locally that a  store has dropped in price. and pick up way more then  3000 pts for 50 bucks.  Target was selling games  last year for 9.98    what fetched  800 to 900 per game

that is  4000 to 4500 pts ... Now should the pts be dropped to  200 pts just cause one store is doing this.

You  dont know if your getting the complete game on   Ebgames if you order online and good luck dumping  3 copies of the game. It usually takes   a week for a  trade to come  full circle meaning your going to have to be the only one  tradin this game for a month.

I could of made  almost  1500 pts  off  a  33 buck  CC purchase  last week if i wanted to .  picked up 3  11 buck game each fetched around  500 pts each

There's a difference between one store putting something on clearance, and the publisher of a game doing a 33% price drop across the board for all retail establishments.  Obviously the answer to the question posed is: no, Goozex shoud not change prices to reflect one retail location's clearance stock.  It should, however, reflect the average price on a whole, which just dropped 33% new, and slighty more used.

As stated by madfigs, the point price will undoubtedly correct itself in time.  In the meantime, however, I find it in my best interest to remove Ninja Gaiden 2 from my request list at 1000 points and purchase it for $25.

whoops, didn't know they would take care of those main price points that drop. Thanks for the tip madfigs. I was just thinking in case they hadn't noticed it yet, then again I haven't been on the market of new games recently, don't know how recent is this price drop.

Haven't looked at the #'s for Burnout Paradise (PS3), but they just released Trophies for it and they're not retroactive like they originall said they were gonna be.

I'm assuming there is quite the demand for that game now, and or people putting it back on hold to play through it again.
