You can't send games to the US via Lettermail so you have to use Paypal shipping or go to the Post Office.
Make sure you pick Light Packet and not Small Packet.
The 2010 rate increase proposal is no where near as abd as what they talke dof doing alst year to doemstic letteramil...but it is some steep % increases. Luckily it wont affect most single ames, it ill if you mail 2 together. Since they don't need approval for intenrational rates we won't hear of them until just before they take effect in Jan, but i woudl expect 5 increases in line with this.
You have until the end of Aug to make your futile comments/complaitn sto the Minsiter responsible for Canada Post on this:
Other Lettermail Proposed Price Change Subject to regulatory approval, effective January 11, 2010 the single weight band of Over 200g up to 500g will be replaced with three separate weight bands as follows: NEW category - Over 200g up to 300g remains the same at $2.75 NEW category and price - Over 300g up to 400g increases 9.1% from $2.75 to $3.00 NEW category and price - Over 400g up to 500g increases18.2% from $2.75 to $3.25

Also a comment on mailers - Im surpised at the large number of Canadians on Goozex mailing their games in thsoe white plastic Canada Post mailers. They are nice, but expensive. you can buy bubble envelopes much much cheaper then buying from canada post!! Dollar stores, wlamart, uline(if you want huge quantity), Staples are mroe but cheaper then CP, ebay. Heck I got a game this week from the USA just wrapped in borwn paper and well taped, arrived just fine.

Yes,or the gooze monster will eat you.
Just a quick note, I am Canadian and used the letter trick (2 X .98$ stamps on a pad envelop) to send 2 of my game last month ... they actually were delivered, but took 21 days for both of them ...
Thanks for this guide, I just sent out my first trade today (to Quebec)!
The price to mail a 100-200g game within Canada will increase to $2.00 + tax starting Monday Jan 11.
I want to thank you magiic for making such a great guide. I opened up my trading region to Canada in January and I felt prepared! So far I haven't been matched with any legitimate Canadians for my requests, but I have had quite a few requests for my offers - mostly dvds. I'm glad you guys want my crappy super awesome movies!
I just have a quick and possibly stupid question. Since I can check the Customs number on the USPS website, is it a good idea for me to provide this number when I confirm shipping? Or is the Customs number something that should be kept private? I don't know very much about customs, so that's why I'm asking.
Edit: is strikethrough not working?
Edit2: for some reason the s tag doesn't work but the strike tag does. *shrugs*
The customs number doesnt provide updates so there is no reason to provide it. I find when I provide the customs number when sending to the US the other trader tends to get antsy and complain that there is no update on it.
Hey, it's been several months since I sent my last game. I was wondering if the "2 Permanent stamps and drop it in the box" trick was still sufficient for sending a PS2 game across Canada. I'm not a fan of the postal staff at Shoppers - they always ineptly pretend the package doesn't fit their slot.
