It's official. the game has a release date of 5/6/2008!!!
supposedly there will be some new content/features/etc.
and of course, updated graphics to make better use of the PC's superior capabilities!
Good news indeed. This one will be worth the wait!
I'm assuming it will only be available on Vista. I won't get for five reasons:
I don't really care tho, have fun with it.(Green with envy)
A few weeks ago, this new would have really excited me. Now though, I have a 360, and the first game I got for it (through Microsoft's retail training site) was Mass Effect. Besides, it'll probably have really high specs, my laptop might not be able to handle it.
this is good news for me. I just got a new PC a month ago :)
Check out my travel blog (I'm in New Zealand currently) - www.lakerr.com
This better not require Vista. I'm awaiting the specs to seeif my pc could manage to run this on low settings.
I highly doubt that any non-Microsoft game will be Vista only. If BioWare were to make Mass Effect Vista only, they would be severely limiting themselves in the number of possible customers.
Check out Steam's hardware survey results posted here. Toward the bottom it shows nearly 82% of all Steam users (which can pretty safely be assumed to be gamers) currently use Windows XP. Most game companies aren't going to be making Vista exclusives for some time yet. Microsoft has attempted it with Halo 2 and Shadowrun, both of which didn't sell to well because of their Vista OS requirements.
Mass Effect will indeed run on XP. System specs have been released from BioWare here.
Minimum System Requirements for Mass Effect on the PCOperating System: Windows XP or VistaProcessor:2.4+GHZ Intel or 2.0+GHZ AMDMemory: 1 Gigabyte Ram (XP) 2 Gigabyte Ram (Vista)Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6 series(6800GT or better)ATI 1300XT or better (X1550, X1600 Pro and HD2400 are below minimum system requirements)Hard Drive Space:12 GigabytesSound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card and drivers
Another nifty bit of Mass Effect PC news that was released today is that the Downloadable Content, Bringing Down the Sky, which you had to pay for on the 360 (which is why I don't have it yet. Grrr....) will be a free download for the PC version. Almost makes me sad I didn't wait. Still, even though I can run minimum specs, I doubt my year and a half old laptop will be capable of running this game and making it look pretty.

Those requirements are nice and low :D

The constant PC updating is another of many reasons I am not a PC gamer.

I don't want to argue, but constant updating really isn't neccessary. I only buy a new pc every 4 years or so, and I can play any new games when they come out.
