If you like to listen to technical mastery, you owe it to yourself to listen to Bill Bruford (here with Alan Holdsworth and Jeff Berlin, two other great masters), Return to Forever (perhaps the greatest technical assemblage ever in terms of raw chops), King Crimson, and Alan Holdsworth ... among others.  I was very fortunate to see all of these guys in the late 70's / early 80's ...

Yeah, thanks for the suggestions. I've listened to some Return to Forever before (totally agree with your statement, that was quite a group!), and a few albums of King Crimson. But I'll have to check out Bill Bruford and Alan Holdsworth.

It would have made sense if this was "Favorite Band/Artist" since not everyone is strictly into Rock. I'm mainly into rap, but there's a few other I like. List is in order according to favorite genre (sorta):
