If you take offense to be calling new then so be it.

Geez, I didn't realize this whole deal was such a big problem. I feel lucky that my first game was accepted and already in the mail after reading this. If I read this post before I had looked through the library, it would have made me just not use the site at all. I think some people are just too paranoid. I'm getting a little ol' PS1 game and have sent out COD4 and Super Mario Galaxy. There's plenty of honest traders out there, but no matter where you go there are scammers.

I also went ahead and chose to ship to Canadians, also.

I'm noticing that if you don't put up the newest games for trade, you will wait a while to trade your older games. I'm never gonna get rid of my copy of Madden 07 :(

You would be amazed.  I have traded a great many older sports titles.  I guess some people just like to have a comprehensive collection on their shelves.  I, myself, have thought about  amassing such a collection....but then I think about how I'm trying to shrink my collection. Hmm.

I actually sent out my copy of Madden 2005 DS last week. People are looking for those back titles every now and then.

I haven't had any problems with the new people yet. (knock on wood) Actually they've been great. I got a mint condition RE4 collector's edition in 72 hours from one new guy.

I actually have a noob that has told me he received the game and it was great yet still he hasn't given me positive feedback.  I just dont think some of the noobs know that they need to leave feedback.  I mean how obvious can it be?

I just had seven trades closed by the system, and I'm pretty sure those people had 0 feedback.  NOT good times, lol!

Oh the crisis of conscious, that has kept me up, many a night. :)
As for trading with new people, I understand you hesitation, but we were all new at one points, you can always check their profile before accepting, and you are going to get the points, because the Goozex team takes care of their loyal traders. So go ahead, take a risk because

I really wish I had found this service before cleaning out my collection. That really chaps my hide. I might be a noob but I'm sending out my first two games today and hope to get quick feedback so I can start getting some games myself. Happy Trading!

Well said Tiny 415!

Hulloo fellow Goozex members!

I actively trade coupons on another site and have not been burned once, as yet anyway. Been offered some trades I turned down (and vice versa for that matter) but was never burned. Hear it does happen on occasion but it is rare and gets around and often written down in rep reporting. We can refuse a trade offer, although there are no set prices like on Goozex. Haggling is sometimes involved before cutting a mutually accepted trade sucessfully. They too use rep systems. I was a lucky one there that after a few awkward first trades (for which I received and gave all positive rep for)done on my newbie own, a couple people sorta took me under their wings and got me up to speed faster than asking a mod for help would ever have been!. Thank goodness and those kind folks that have become people I now call friends!

Here on Goozex I am lost in several ways. I don't know my "sponsor" well. They're a fellow  member at another site and were how I learned of Goozex but was also my initial contact with this person too. I am happy to help folks earn perks through sponsorship when they are letting me in on great site for me to join and leaving choice to me, not pestering. Doesn't matter if I know folks well or at all, so long as their referal checks out okay and not something that inundates me with SPAM - otherwise it's win/win?! There are jerks and opportunists everywhere but if we fear living because of them then that seems to give them more power over my life than I'd like? Maybe if a few newbies actually burned me (as in ripped off - not ticked off via lack of protocol or other aquired finesse) then I'd be more demanding or cautious, if possible? Suppose can always just plain opt out of club but where's the fun in that? Hopefully the punsters and the other ill-intended are come across rarely here?

That said, I have made more than one boo-boo so far and I am not usually slow on the uptake. I read Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policies before signing for anything. I read How To's as well. Still, I mess up sometimes and I am no dumb bunny generally. This is all new to me. Would hate to begin in the minus position inadvertedly but not going to freak over it either if some old hand gets up in my grill because I fumble around a bit at first.

My first boo-boo was right off the bat while listing my first disc to trade. Being the first time, I didn't know that some setting/s were preset to default. I had a disc and booklet but don't know where the box is right now. I do have it ,but can't put my hands on it, so I wanted to list it without the box. When I got to that part I couldn't change the preset complete with box setting. Plain didn't know how. Tried and tried to find out and then failed in my attempts to alter my setting once I found them. Sent Goozex an email immediately (just about, did try correct on my own first) but wouldn't you know it, before they could reply my game was selected to trade and the person was expecting the whole package?! What a wonderful inaugeration - shear panic! I stalled as long as I could hoping Goozex might reply before I had to and then finally had to reply to my expiditious first trader. Feeling awful and awfully dumb, putting the game on hold for a few weeks while I tried wait for Goozex and so forth. It was disappointing. Also first site I've ever been expected to be able to reply so fast - bar none. Shortly afterwards, like the next day I believe, Goozex replied and informed me they fixed my listing to reflect my desired intention (disc & booklet only) and changed my preset default to that option as well, which was tremendously appreciated. I have a box of boxes but can't get at them presently - renovating, most of household is boxed up. Don't know if I should've written this person that wanted the full version of game or just follow prompts as they come in the email and wait for my next opportunity now that game is listed correctly? I am waiting. Goozex seems to have everything automated ond laid out with waiting lists and order of priority etc. Hope that's okay?

Second (and latest boo-boo) I thought we listed our games only one way. When I saw buttons that said "Have It" and "Stash" etc., just thought Have it = own but not up for trade presently, just games I happen to have? Stash puzzled me and still does? Not clicking to see what it's about - might lose a bulk amount of my game collection or something - LOL? Silly me? Well, imagine my surprise when I clicked on "have It" and found out it was actually another method I'd not heard (understood or remembered) mention of in order to list a game for trade!!! Now it is on hold of sorts, apparently until I do my first trade successfully... I think?... but I don't even want to trade this game even then! I thought it was a place we catalogue all we have. I expected to be able to go look and see and leave if took a wrong turn?! Even when buying stuff with money on other sites you can fill your cart and even go to check out and still change your mind and not complete the transaction but not so here! One click and you're scrambling to try learn how to change the error. Not the most surfer curious friendly set up but likely some sort reasons for that, I guess? Figured maybe through "Have It" members could make me an offer I might not refuse or something maybe and change my mind about listing something? I'm new, couldn't learn or memorize it all immediately. Am trying as fast as I can. Have other gamess to list but waiting until I feel more at ease with the terminolgies etc. now thanks to initial experiences and that I still don't know enough yet. See how first trade goes and take it as slowly as I can from there until up to speed or befriended by somebody who will let me ask a few things and set me better on my way...ahem, hint?  :-)

Haven't any mentor at Goozex really. Not sure if my sponsor wants to be bugged by all his recruits all the time? May have garnered many using the method he implemented? Would be nice if folks might ponder idea of forming a volunteer mentor group or orientation program, to help make more effortless and speedier the inaugeration to using Goozex?

Do think folks might try be more "patient" with some of us new folks or some members in general sometimes? I have never seen the term spelled noob, never mind knew either definition before coming to this thread. I'm glad folks like a quick turnover period to request games but here's just somethings some may not have considered? Some people join with good intentions and then get put off and disappear because they don't understand or feel comfortable with the group they thought they might enojy checking out. Could be some people that are disabled cannot always just pop out to shop or mail things on a moments notice. Depending on time of day, it takes one or two days minimum just to book a ride to go anywhere via Handi-Transit. Personal errands and shopping, even correspondence is not a trip priority #1 - rated 2 or 3. Doctor appointments come first and frequently (especially in winter) even some business trips to government offices requested are refused. Don't think getting negetive rep for not snapping to fast enough on turnaround getting game out is something to get knocked for in all cases? It is just video game leisure stuff and sometimes life throws more important stuff at you all at once and other things have to be relegated to a realistic proper priority order (sorry to all die hard serious gamer-types) despite site policies and rep systems! Me bad? Oh well! Just had over two weeks without power (mostly in -30 weather) while I waited for an available electritician to come and upgrade and fix my power service! Was not about to leave my home to go use a computer elsewhere when I needed to be feeding our woodstove trying to keep pipes from freezing... again. Also wanted to be home if house started on fire so could call 911 and maybe save some of my possessions, if possible? It was a dangerous situation. Could only risk using power one or two low watt items at a time and even that was risky! Had it been summer, Hydro would have shut our power off! Sparks coming out a switch on wall and sizzling sounds emanting even when no sparks took priority over collecting my email and meeting any sort site guidelines. Lived one foot in two different centuries simultaneously. Have new electrical service now and back online etc. but I am "in heck" on a different site because I didn't rep fast enough and the trade hadn't even arrived to me yet. I get some of my messages forwarded to my regular mail from the site but couldn't respond - was last time i could use the computer as problem got worse and it made wall sizzle too eventually. Had a trade request come during my dark candlelit age recently (sans cable too - yikes, and water for a day when one of the pipes froze) suppose i would be admonished on record? Lucky for me no request for my game has arrived yet a second time. You can't always even judge by the rep system in place? Some just like to grump, some won't say something bad about anybody - even if deserved, etc. Just saying. Some disabled and non-driver's license holders may have volunteer chauffeurs and aides at the ready but others haven't any other mode of trasport except Handi service. Goozex's 2-day response time is challenging and even impossible for some if they run out of supplies untimely? Even assistance from others can take co-ordination time occasionally. My "rep" may get it's butt kicked here but I hope not, it's not my intention? Now I know better, I will purchase several of the bubble lined Kraft envelopes and have them on hand... er shortly. Once I have committed to memory the cost to ship insured as per instructions. Will soon try keep sufficient postage around too but pobody's nerfect and few so wealthy nowadays that occasional tight periods could be factor here and there for some? Goozex is cool and i look forward to an amiable and enjoyable experience here but Goozex and video games are not my only interest nor my top priority and I am not apologetic - just saying. Will attempt to do my utmost to meet site's expectations but it will not always be easy and sometimes i could see me failing a bit here and there despite efforts and intentions not to?!

I'm a newbie. A bungling one at that so far, but I expect, as elsewhere, I will improve eventually? Maybe instead of pointing out petty flaws and pet peeves sometimes we might offer to help initially instead? Suppose I could be a noob too on occasion, by whichever meaning is attributed to apply, but hopefully it's usually unintentional and just temporary...?

This club is going to be fun - eventually! I will get the hang of things but not there yet even though have spent many hours here. As a noob, it is pretty scary here and there at Goozex sort of. Not all is black and white and self explanatory and not all boo-boos easily corrected, even though site is well laid out and quite attractively done. Most don't like to make a donkey's backside of themselves, many dislike using or admitting "I don't know" and especially not publically and especially not with strangers but it is bound to happen to more than few here I think, unless you're exceptionally fortunate? Lighten up a little might me wise? We're trading games not stocks and bonds. Should be fun for all here, even noobs that are boobs at first... like me?!

Have a great day and as much fun (not at other's expense) as you can - life's too short to sweat the smaller stuff!

Whoa... and I thought I wrote long posts.

I see that you have yet to make a trade.  If you need any help getting off the ground with goozex, feel free to post your question on the boards.  Also, if you like, I'd be happy to offer any advice if you have further questions.  To PM me, click on my name to the left and when the new page loads, click on the green button that says something like 'view trade profile'.  On the new page that loads after that, click on something like 'send this user a message'.  I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.  Just... please... try to keep them a little shorter than this post Wink

I think you've just inadvertantly highlighted an area of the site that could use some streamlining. Surprise
