A big shout-out goes to Goozer Smoger who has independently developed the first Goozex Android App: Pocket Goozex!

Envision a mobile phone application where with the a few touches on your cell you scan the back of a game box at a retail store and instantly add it to your Goozex request queue. WOUNDED WARRIORS GET THEIR GAME ON

As many of you know, we have a relationship with the good people at Cause, who help bring comfort to our wounded soldiers. Recently, Cause unveiled a bed side portable PlayStation 3 and TV unit that can move around throughout the hospital. Below are a couple of pictures from Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in Washington DC to help give you an idea of how it looks. In addition to these gaming units, Cause manages free movie and game rental centers in military hospitals across the world and is what attracted us to volunteer for them in the first place. Dear Goozex students,
The Fall semester is coming to an end and soon you’ll be on your winter break. While on break, the Goozex Faculty Staff would like to remind all of you about the FREE trades available to all “.edu” students. From now through January 31, 2010 Goozex student members will have free trades on movies and games. A- students will take advantage and stock up for the Spring semester. A+ students will also tell their classmates, professors and family how much they learned about saving money on Goozex!

New members should register with a “.edu” email address. Existing student members should simply change and then confirm their “.edu” email addresses. Know this and you’ll pass the Goozex101 exam with no problem. Happy Trading!

Yay! Free trade days are back again for movies on Goozex! From now until January 31, 2010 you do not need any tokens to trade movies. You just need the appropriate amount of points to get movies. HURRY before this promotion ends! Trading Blu-Rays and DVDs is a new way members are picking up a few extra points on Goozex. With a lot of great movies in demand, it’s an easy way to pick up some points for trading on Goozex or to put towards the Goozex Exchange. TRADE SYSTEM UPDATES EXTRAVAGANZA

We have an extravaganza of updates coming out the pipeline over the next couple of months.

Update: Points Payment & Confirm Shipment
Goozex is updating the points payment system in an effort to better serve both buyers and sellers. In order for a seller to receive points upfront they will need to confirm shipment for any given trade. We are promoting better trading behavior for the Goozex community, which we expect to lead to even better customer service in the case of a trade issue popping up. When a seller confirms shipment, that user is making a clear statement to the buyer and Goozex that they have placed the item in the mail. Please do not confirm shipment if you have not actually placed a movie or game in the mail.

Update: Feedback System
Goozex has updated the buyer slot restrictions associated with your feedback score. It is a minor adjustment that we believe will help get buyers more games and movies faster! You can check the update on the FAQ:

Update: Instant Match
The new Instant Match feature has been launched and directly connects buyers and sellers to start an immediate trade. The new pop-up that you see when adding items to your queues is part of the Instant Match system. We are working on some updates including Profile and Queue page notifications to help you better access Instant Match with your existing list of games and movies. A few other updated Instant Match areas:

Your profile page will have a notification alerting you of available instant matches you have by updating your requests or “On Hold” queues.
Your requests queue will have a notification to alert you that by changing the shipping condition (from Full Package to Disc Only or Disc + Manual) you will be able to get an Instant Match
Your “On Hold” queues will have a notification to alert you that by activating the movie or game for trade you will have an Instant Match

Update: Automatic Vacation Mode
TGIF and here comes the weekend! Uh-oh, got some trade matches on Friday that I didn’t see until Sunday, and I timed out and lost my space in the queue. What to do? If you know you’re going to be away from email and your home for a couple of days or more, then make sure to use the Vacation Mode on Goozex (it's an option within your Account page). Going into Vacation Mode holds your place in the queue while you’re away.

Now Goozex will be automatically placing users into Vacation Mode if they have certain amount of timeouts occur in a specific time frame. Here’s a quick breakdown on when a user will be automatically placed into Vacation Mode:

If 3 or more timeouts occur in the last 7 days
If 5 or more timeouts occur in the last 30 days

Update: Feedback Notification
The My Goozex and the Requests pages now have an alert that shows how many days are left to leave feedback. With the Holiday mail crunch coming, we expect packages to take a little longer than usual and this update will go a long way to help buyers determine how much longer they need to wait before the feedback will auto close.

After launching our heavy hitting movie trading system, we here at Goozex have set our sights on rolling out the new Instant Match feature. Instant Match is designed to connect you immediately with another member for items that have a ready-to-go buyer and/or seller. Volunteers Needed -- Cause is looking for volunteers at their hospitals to help recovering soldiers get their game on! Cause is unveiling a new mobile PlayStation 3 game cart that is specifically designed to bring the fun and distraction of video gaming to those confined to a hospital bed. They need experienced gamers and preferably those that are handy with how to setup and troubleshoot a PS3. The mobile PS3 game cart will be launching at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in Washington D.C. with the intention of growing the program out to military and VA hospitals across the country. MOVIE TRADING!

Goozex movie trading has arrived! In last month’s newsletter we said movie trading would be coming and since then we’ve already added two new formats based on your feedback. In addition to Blu-Rays and DVDs, you will be able to trade for HD-DVDs and UMDs as well. Some key things you need to know about Goozex movie trading:

Goozex Points are universal and can be used on either games or movies.
The movie trading home page will be separate from the game trading – make sure to click on the buttons at the top of the page to go where you want.
You can edit your homepage to be about movie or game trading via My Account.
Movie trading is in beta and you can expect adjustments as we move ahead.

**Goozex Spoiler Alert**

Goozex is super excited to announce the beta launch of DVD & Blu-Ray trading this summer! Get your stacks of movies that you thought you'd watch over and over again, but really only saw once ready for swapping, Goozex style. The site is giving members the best value for their movies to trade for points. And just like game trading, you just need points and one token to get movies. The points you earn for game trades can be used for DVDs and Blu-Rays, and vice versa.

The New Goozex Exchange

Coming back by popular demand is the Goozex Exchange. But it’s not going to be like the previous trial versions run earlier this year. The new Goozex Exchange will be available for a lot more games and open all year round under the new “Buy Now” button/section. Here are some important changes:

Most game and movie detail pages will have a new “Buy Now” button and by clicking on that button you will be able to find out if the game is available for the Goozex Exchange
You will be able to exchange in combinations of points and cash for games and movies. The more cash you pay the less points you will spend, and vice versa
Product handling through the Exchange will be managed via reputable online retailers and distributors

Instant Match

The development team at Goozex has further optimized the matching process for all those games that have copies immediately available for trading. When requesting games a new pop-up will show information about getting an instant match with a seller for a game. For example, if requesting Halo Wars, it may say that by requesting Disc Only you will have an instant match, versus requesting Full Package and getting into the queue.

The new Instant Match will not change the way Goozex works. It will only simplify the user interface, and share more information about the availability of each title upfront. Hopefully this will make it easier and faster to trade on Goozex!

Expect this to go live by August ’09!

Instant Match

Keep an eye out for the new Instant Match buttons on game detail pages. Instant Match will let you instantly match for games that have an empty request queue and the sellers are ready to go. It will be a great way to start getting games you've never played but always wanted to try out.

Trade Cancellation Update

In some cases you may find yourself in a dispute with another trader and just need to cancel the trade. You can now cancel trades at any time during the trading and the feedback dispute process. It’s there for your convenience and to help speed up a resolution. Valve Steps Up With Swag For Wounded Troops

You may remember the donation drive Goozex held for Cause, the non-profit organization that helps wounded troops recover in military hospitals. Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital is nearby Goozex HQ in Washington DC and we volunteer to help run the video game tournament there.

Left 4 Dead was the game played in the last tournament in March and Valve stepped up and donated swag to give out as prizes to the soldiers who played. We wanted to thank Valve and their team who contributed to making a big difference in the tournament. Doug Lombardi, VP of Marketing at Valve, wrote back saying to Cause, “Thanks for inviting us to contribute. God bless America, our troops and video games!”

We are excited to announce that we are running a two-month donation drive for our wounded troops recuperating in military hospitals! To help get this done, we have partnered with a great non-profit organization that works with our wounded on a daily basis: Cause (Comfort for America's Uniformed Services) www.cause-usa.org

Your Support Matters!
You can help support the young men & women who have returned from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with serious injuries. These soldiers are recovering from serious battlefield wounds in military hospitals across the country, often undergoing grueling daily rehabilitation routines. Video games and DVDs are a source of entertainment and relaxation for them during their long periods of rehabilitation. That’s where you can help out!

Cause has programs at five military hospitals and they have created Amazon wish lists of the DVDs and video games soldiers at those hospitals are requesting. Here are the Amazon wish list links for each hospital:
